SILVER CITY, Nev. — The Resident Artist Program in Silver City announced that their summer visiting artist is Kerry Rossow, an Illinois-based author, performer, and co-founder of the She Said Project.

SILVER CITY, Nev. — Poet David Lee was a visiting artist at the Resident Artist Program in Silver City in 2016, 2017, and 2018, and will be back again this winter. His repeated stays in the historic Comstock town inspired his latest book of poems, Mine Tailings. It is dedicated to the people of Silver City. The book was released by 5 Sisters Press this Fall, and will be the focus of Lee’s reading at the Silver City Schoolhouse (community center) on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.

To be clear, Nick Marsella hasn’t actually spent any time working in a mail room or pushing a mail cart up the corridors of America’s corporate castles.

However, the Sierra Lutheran High School graduate is very fluent when it comes to recounting a relevant retail experience he recently had, and the value of where stocking, clerking, and cleaning can lead.

The Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1975, is hosting the Proscenium Players, Inc’s dramatic reading of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize winning drama, "Doubt: A Parable" by John Patrick Shanley.

The book award in Creative Nonfiction for the WILLA Literary Award goes to Mary Lee Fulkerson and her book, Women Artists of the Great Basin. The book is replete with 120 stunning color photographs of the artists and their works by master photographer Susan E. Mantle.

He'll offer another of his extraordinary readings at the Silver City School House at 385 High Street on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 1pm. James Hoggard, the former poet laureate of Texas, writes,“Lee’s poems will make you laugh till your tears make it impossible to see the page.”

Named one of the 12 greatest writers to ever emerge from the state by Utah Endowment for the Humanities, David Lee was Utah’s first and longest serving poet laureate.

Bus Stop, the Pulitzer Prize winning play by William Inge is scheduled for one more weekend at the Brewery Arts Center’s MHJ Black Box Theater in Carson City beginning this Friday night.

David Lee's 23rd book, "Bluebonnets, Firewheels, and Brown-Eyed Susans, Or, Poems New and Used from the Bandera Rag and Bone Shop," was published recently. He's been on tour, reading and teaching at the Cliff Notes Writing Conference in Utah and at poetry festivals in Ohio, among others.

SILVER CITY — While he's in Nevada teaching a graduate level course on poetry at University of Nevada, Reno, acclaimed poet David Lee will also offer poetry readings on the Comstock in historic Silver City (dates to be determined).

Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Typically held during the last week of September, it highlights the value of free and open access to information.

Carson City Library will host a “Virtual Read-Out” during Banned Books Week, bringing together our community in shared support of the freedom to seek and express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.

Carl Kuhl, a state Parole and Probation employee of six years, has created a plan that he claims will eliminate Nevada's budget deficit within two years.

In a news release issued on Tuesday, Kuhl said his plan not only will reduce the budget deficit but also help repair Nevada's economy at the same time. It is a pretty big claim, he admits, coming from an Accounting Assistant I, an entry level position.
