The Capital City Arts Initiative’s [CCAI] exhibition, For Detail View, by artist Jeff Hantman continues at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery through May 25. The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The reception and the exhibition are free and the public is cordially invited. WNC Softball: Wildcats bombard Coyotes in Henderson

Western Nevada College's offense continued to sing and sting at College of Southern Nevada on Saturday afternoon. After scoring 31 runs and connecting for 27 hits during a Scenic West Athletic Conference softball doubleheader sweep on Friday, the Wildcats raked Coyotes pitching for 12 hits in a 15-0 opening-game win Saturday in Henderson.

Robinson belted three homers and knocked in 11 runs as the surging Wildcats claimed both ends of a Scenic West Athletic Conference softball doubleheader from rival College of Southern Nevada, 16-4 and 15-1, in Henderson.

Recently, an article was posted to Carson Now by University of Nevada Cooperative Extension promoting a spring plant sale fundraiser for The Greenhouse Project, located behind Carson High School.

Carson City Judge Tatro receives Lifetime Achievement Award from Nevada Judges Association

The Nevada Judges Association consisting of over 80 Justices of the Peace and Municipal Court Judges from the Justice and Municipal Courts throughout the State of Nevada honored Carson City Justice of the Peace/Municipal Court Judge John Tatro with the Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Carson City weather: Weekend activities may be soggy with rain in the forecast

Showers and thunderstorms may develop Friday afternoon around Carson City with the potential for heavier bands of precipitation arriving early Saturday morning, a National Weather Service forecaster said.

National Weather Service meteorologist Zach Colby said the brunt of Friday’s weather will be north of Interstate 80, possibly moving southward into the afternoon and early evening.

Half marathon, 5K run to help injured Nevada firefighters and families of fallen firefighters

Recent Silver Syringe Awards recognizes commitment to immunization efforts in Nevada

Immunize Nevada held two award ceremony dinners in April, in northern and southern Nevada, to identify outstanding individuals and organizations that have gone above and beyond to protect Nevadans from vaccine-preventable diseases.

The 18th Annual Silver Syringe Awards were held in conjunction with National Infant Immunization Week, which brought more awareness to the work these winners strive to provide.

SNC Tahoe Wins Lacrosse Division Finals For Second Year

Sierra Nevada College Men’s Lacrosse Team won the Mens Collegiate Lacrosse Association’s WCLL Division II Tournament yesterday, defeating #2 seed UC Davis 18-3, which means they will play in the MCLA national championships for the second year in row, beginning Monday, May 9. Their first game will be at UC Irvine against North Dakota State at 11 am.

Senior Jack Witt was WCLL Tournament MVP and Defensive Player of the Year for the conference.

Care Flight Expands to 24-Hour, 7-Day Service in Fallon

FALLON, Nev. – Care Flight is expanding its hours of service of the emergency medical helicopter based at Banner Churchill Community Hospital to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Since April 2015, the helicopter has been available at the hospital 12 hours a day, seven days a week.

Nevada homeowners urged to 'Junk the Junipers' May 21 to prepare for wildfire season

May day has come and gone, but just barely. This is my favorite time of year in Carson City: blooming flowers, warmer days, and the return of summertime activities. The Historic Carson Scavenger Hunt begins today, so head downtown and look for the unique features that make the buildings one of a kind. Mondays are perfect for getting out and starting the week off with some swing dancing with our local club, the High Sierra Swing Dancers. Firkin and Fox is a great place for food and drink, but tonight you can go and sing some songs with karaoke leaders J and M Productions.
