Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region. The Dayton Chamber’s 27th annual “Making A Difference” Golf Tournament arrives Friday. Carson City Kiwanis is hosting its seventh annual Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday with several activities for all to enjoy. Combined with live music and railbike tours, the weekend will be buzzing with excitement! Read on for more information.

Heading into Tuesday, sunny skies and more springlike weather are ahead before active weather patterns start up again later in the week. Activities lined up around the capital city include morning and evening walks hosted by Muscle Powered. You can join true crime, paranormal writer Janice Oberding at Nevada State Library and Archives for a brown bag luncheon. There's a meeting of the Carson Fly Fishing Club at the sheriff's office, a paint and sip night at Living the Good Life and you can join Mile High Jazz Band at Comma Coffee for a 'Fate & Fortune' evening of music and poetry. As summer winds down, fall events in Tahoe South are ramping up. And the secret’s out: Fall in Tahoe South is one of the most idyllic times to visit with mild weather, off-season lodging rates, more beach space and numerous events starting Labor Day Weekend.

Carson Valley Art is the newest fun place in Minden. We are a full service art center with something for everyone. Studio 775 is our fine art gallery hosting 1st Friday events with an artist reception at 7pm. DaVinci & Drinks is our paint night that's held Thursday, Friday and Saturday's from 7-10.

Clay Creations is our ceramics studio that has 4 wheels and hand building work space; we do mid fire clay and glazes. There's membership opportunities for Clay Creations.

The Carson Valley Art Center is a new art center located in Minden at 1644 U.S. Highway 395, Suite B, between the Bank of America and the old winery directly across the street from the Carson Valley Market.

Grab some friends or family and craft with us this weekend at The Place to DIY in Carson City! Friday and Saturday, March 16-17 from 12 noon to 7 p.m.

Sunday is the last chance for celebrity sightings at Edgewood Golf Resort in at south shore Lake Tahoe as the American Century Celebrity Championship tournament comes to a close. Learn about the legacy of Douglas County’s Dangberg family from the rancher’s grandson, author Steve Archard. Locals enjoy a special price on the Virginia and Truckee steam train, or the McKeen Motor car at the Nevada Railroad Museum.

SUNDAY:

I really hope I’m not required to choose a favorite event. I would be hard pressed to choose between the Nevada Day Parade and the annual Taste of Downtown. Luckily, I can adore them both, and for much the same reason. They are a celebration of community, of Carson City, of our historic downtown and all that it has to offer. In addition to 'The Taste', the Brewery Arts Center goes country with the Southern Drawl Band on its outdoor stage, and Madam Curry leads another downtown Ghost Walk. SATURDAY:

The support, enjoyment and participation in Wine and Art events is growing in Carson City.

It is evident with the opening of two new businesses that offer social gathering art classes and the enjoyment of adult libations, music and tasty tidbits. Both of these creative businesses have opened within two weeks of each other.
