Carson City School District: Pass/Fail grading benefits students without negative consequences

The decision comes as principals, instructional leaders, district-level administrators and members of the teachers’ union have discussed the extension of school closures following spring break.

Join Muscle Powered and our Parks and Recreation Department at the Silver Saddle Ranch for a presentation and trash mob. Kids will love the Carnival at Bordewich Elementary School, and it helps raise funds for a local Cub Scout Pack. Mark Twain Elementary is hosting their annual Color Run at Mills Park, just make sure to wear a white shirt.

A bowling tournament and the Comstock Shootout Soccer tournament have the hotels and motels busting at the seams. Celebrate Earth Day with Muscle Powered by making a small piece of Carson City that much cleaner; the trash meets at 8 a.m. and leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the day. Rummage and book sales, live music, a fun run and a half-marathon, comedy and so much more await you. Check out the list for all the ways to embrace the sunshine.

Happy birthday Nevada: How, when and where to celebrate Nevada Day 2016 events

A parade, competitions of strength and facial hair, hot air balloons, bloody marys, a carnival, pow wow, and free chili are just a few of the festivities awaiting the capital city on Saturday.
The party begins Friday this year with a ribbon cutting celebration of the 'new' downtown. The Nevada State Museum hits its 75th Anniversary this year and will have a day full of fun and surprises. Keep reading to see where you need to take advantage of all the best this holiday weekend has to offer.

3rd Annual Carson City Kiwanis Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day

There will many activities including a four person scramble golf tourney with many categories, such as men's teams , women's teams, mixed and senior teams. It's only $75 person and Michael Hohl Motors is donating a vehicle for if a person who get's a hole in one. This event will be held at the Empire Ranch golf course, as will the other events.
Carson City Hosts the 14th Annual Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Runs 100 Mile, 50 Mile & 55K
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Thu, 07/14/2016 - 9:07amThe Tahoe Mountain Milers Running Club presents the 14th Annual Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Runs. Carson City plays host as the event headquarters. Runners packets are being distributed today, Friday, in the legislative mall.
This three day event with over 550 participants and at least as many volunteers, began in 2001 as a 50 Mile and 50 Kilometer Endurance Run. The 100 Mile event was added in 2006 and is an internationally recognized Ultra Event.

Head over to Eagle Valley Middle School for a rummage sale benefiting their LEGO Robotics Team; you may find something fun for your patio. The Spring Fling Stop and Shop at the Plaza Hotel will help you spruce up your wardrobe. Or head up to Silver City for the big closing sale at Doodad’s Emporium. If you find yourself in Gardnerville, the First Annual Summer Splendor Showcase and Expo features vendors galore.

Nevada Day 2014: 25th Annual Nevada Day Classic Run/Walk

The event, organized by the Tahoe Mountain Milers running club and its members in cooperation with many sponsors has supported many community organizations over the years. This year’s event will benefit Guide Dogs for the Blind.
