Jennifer Baker to speak at Carson City Republican Women's luncheon

Ms. Baker will give us an overview of the current legislative session as well as effective engagement for what is important. Our meeting will be held at the Casino Fandango grand ballroom with social time beginning at 11 a.m. and the meeting called to order at 11:30 a.m.

Pat Travers will also be performing live at the Carson Nugget for two shows at 7PM and 9PM.
The Arlington Event Center will also host a Craft & Vendor Fair from Oct. 27-29.
Join the party across from the Carson Nugget Casino in Carson City for an action-packed weekend!
Sunday, Oct. 30: Things to do around Carson City

Take the kids up to Virginia City for one last chance to catch Thomas the Tank Engine at the V & T Depot. It may be a little rainy, but the show must go on at the NV Day Carnival and Festival at Mills Park.

Kick up your heels at Carson Lanes: country line dance is on the menu every Tuesday and Wednesday. Living the Good Life is getting funky tonight; local trio, Whatitdo, will be getting its groove on. Sushi lovers should head to Kim Lee’s Sushi for two for one beer and sake; just save some upside down shrimp for me.

The facility will be located on Airport Road in Carson, just south of the intersection of Airport Road and Butti Way. The public is invited.

Billy Migan will be displaying his exhibit titles Pen Sketches. From there, head south a few blocks for ladies night at the Ormsby Club if you’re the pool playing kind. Lake Tahoe Brewery is the place to be for fun trivia and prizes, bring your friends.

Get your blood pumping with Carson City’s Parks and Rec. Department on this morning’s Easy Walk at Silver Saddle Ranch. Go dancing tonight and take your pick of line dancing at Carson Lanes or beginning swing dance at El Charro’s. Classic movie buffs won’t want to miss out on a showing of the original Little Shop of Horrors at Red’s Old 395.

Ceremony opens Carson City Motor Officer Training Challenge, downtown festival
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sat, 06/27/2015 - 8:42amMotorcycle patrol riders from Nevada and California were welcomed by dignitaries Saturday for the opening of the 12th Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge in downtown Carson City.
The event brings dozens of law enforcement officers to Carson City annually to compete in team riding and obstacle courses along Carson Street. Saturday's events will include 2 man tethered riding, 4 man team relay, slow ride, an obstacle course and last man standing.
I Love Carson City's Weekend Event Summary: June 27-28

Battleborn Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly features the Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge, vendors, a brewfest, moustache competition and more. The Karson Kruzers are hosting their annual car show at Fuji Park, but will be making their way downtown after it’s over, so there will be plenty of cool cars to admire. Mojo Green takes the stage at 7 p.m. and you can head into the Carson Cigar Company to enjoy Reno’s newest Pink Floyd Tribute Band, Scarlett Moon at 9 p.m.

- Karson Krusers’ Run Whatcha Brung Car Show at Fuji Park (registration 7am-9am; show and vendors until 6pm; parade to downtown 6pm)

I know that the Taste of Downtown is hard to beat, but the new Battleborn Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly has thrown its hat in the ring. Live music, vendors, competitions that test motorcycle driving skill and moustache growing ability. The brewfest and tasting is tomorrow night, but the fun will begin today at noon. Shine up your hot rod, the Karson Kruzers’ Run Whatcha Brung Show hits Fuji Park tomorrow, but you can register and show off your ride tonight in the Carson Nugget Parking Lot.

- Last day to purchase tickets for the Chamber of Commerce’s 70th Anniversary celebration concert with Lacey J. Dalton at the decommissioned Nevada State Prison ( $40 per person, paid in advance only. Reservations may be made online or by calling the Chamber at 882-1565)

Tasha Costa, an organizer of the Occupy Carson contingent, said participants will scale down the demonstration in honor of the annual Nevada Day celebration, which will be happening downtown at the same time.
