Art and Poetry Inside the Decommissioned Nevada State Prison June 22 to September 30

Visual art, poetry and soundscapes will temporarily transform the cell housing, medical and culinary spaces of the historic and recently decommissioned Nevada State Prison at 3301 Warmsprings Court, Carson City, Nevada 89701.
Summer Writing Workshop for Older Adults with Nevada's Poet Laureate

The series of poetry writing sessions for older adults will be held on Monday evenings from 5:30 PM until 7 PM beginning June 20 and concluding on July 18 (no class July 4 due to the holiday).
In addition, there will be a culminating event on Monday, July 25, 2022.

Imagine Nevada, which will be on display at the Nevada Humanities Program Gallery in Las Vegas from October 3 – November 26, 2019, brings Nevada artists and poets together to collaborate on works that articulate the Las Vegas experience.

Submitted by editor on Wed, 04/22/2015 - 3:47pmPoetry lovers are in for a treat on Thursday, May 7, at Western Nevada College in Carson City. Published poets Laura Wetherington and Jared Stanley are scheduled to read starting at 4 p.m. in WNC’s Main Gallery.
“I don't know how long it's been since WNC had poets read here who have actually published books, but it's been quite a while,” said Douglas Barrett, Ph.D., an English instructor at WNC, is coordinating the event.
Barrett said that Wetherington and Stanley, who teach at Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village, bring a contemporary style to poetry.
