Nevada Humanities awards nearly $369K to 46 statewide cultural organizations

Forty-six cultural and humanities organizations across Nevada received $368,873 in federal CARES Act grants.
Obituary: William 'Bill' Clarence Thornton, 1934-2019
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 11/17/2019 - 9:27amWilliam "Bill" Clarence Thornton, father, attorney, pilot, part-time cowboy, corny joke-teller, and mentor to many, had his final flight on Tuesday, November 5th, 2019 after gracefully charting his course with Parkinson's Disease for over twenty years. Bill died peacefully at home in hospice care surrounded by loved ones.

The Show will be from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.; award ceremony starts at 3 p.m. Registration is $40 per entry. There is still time for pre-registration or you can register on the day of the event. Each participant will receive a T-shirt, one lunch meal ticket, and a dash plaque.

Carson City scavenger hunt celebrates historic Nevada preservation and archaeology

To kick off the celebration, there will be a monthlong Historic Resources Commission Scavenger Hunt in Carson City and other events around northern Nevada.
Organizations and agencies have maintained a long tradition to promote history and spread awareness of archaeological and historic preservation efforts throughout the state, encouraging both residents and visitors to explore and learn about Nevada’s significant archaeological and historical treasures.
