On Saturday, December 15th the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City is hosting several holiday events.  From 10am-4pm the museum will have its first annual Holiday Craft Sale.  They will be featuring Carson City Pottery which is housed in the museum.  Staff and students will be giving demonstrations and selling work for last minute holiday purchases.  In addition, the museum gift shop will be having a one day only sale, 20% off for members and 10% off for non-members.  Admission to the sales are free.  Limited vender space still available.  Contact Mary Ann at 884-2226

AUDITION WORKSHOP

      Wild Horse Children’s Theater is presenting an audition workshop to help prepare young people (ages 8 and up) to audition confidently anywhere by strengthening audition and performance technique for musical theater.  This is a great workshop if your child plans to audition for THE LITTLE MERMAID audition coming up in September.  The workshop will be held Tuesday, August 21 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Performance Hall at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

Stephanie Arrigotti has been directing and producing shows for the Western Nevada Musical Theater Company at WAC for several years and every year she brings greater casts and more entertaining shows to the Community Center in Carson City. Friday night she opened "The Phantom of the Opera" to an enthusiastic audience with possibly the biggest first-night numbers in the theater group's history.

And the audience got what it came for — a beautifully staged and directed show with a cast of very talented actors.

The Best of the Best of Broadway will be presented as part of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival on July 25 at 7:30 PM. This spectacular musical and dance theater medley will be performed at the Sand Harbor Warren Trepp Amphitheater on beautiful Lake Tahoe by the Sierra Nevada Ballet and musical friends.

Musical numbers from some of the all time favorite musicals such as Show Boat, Sweet Charity, Hello Dolly and more will offer “a vivid performance under the stars for all ages and musical interests”, according to Artistic
Director, Rosine Bena.

This spectacular musical theater medley, designed especially for the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, is filled with the fabulous singing of Cami Thompson with the live music of the Cami Thompson trio and the spectacular dancing of the Sierra Nevada Ballet. "'Oklahoma!" is the Rogers & Hammerstein classic that changed the face of American musical theater. It will be performed by the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company under the direction of Stephanie Arrigotti at the Carson City Community Center. Maria Arrigotti happily is back with the Western Nevada Musical Theater Company in the Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music.”

She starred in many productions with the company and her professionalism is evident on the stage as she leads the troupe of seven von Trapp children through the musical. The shows continues tonight and next week.

A couple of fine shows on tap this weekend for Carson City folk. One is a children's production, Aladdin, Jr." at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada. The other is the venerable "Sound of Music," staged by the Western Nevada Musical Theater Company, affiliated with our local college.

Celia Slattery will offer a musical theater workshop Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Brewery in Carson City. She will follow that Saturday night at 7;30 p.m.

The Children's Museum is becoming the center of gravity for those enjoying live theater, performed by adults and by children. The Carson City Proscenium Players is presenting "Thieve's Carniva
