Not a cloud in the sky, and yet we have been hit by a perfect storm: Cinco de Mayo, Kentucky Derby Day, and the monthly wine walk have all collided. Take the kids down to Bailys Pond at Fuji Park for the annual Tom Brooks Memorial Kids’ Fishing Day. A trip to the train museum comes with the opportunity to ride on the Historic McKeen Motor Car.

Senator Square: Ananda Campbell has limitless love for being Carson High School's Librarian

Though the level of library support varies throughout school districts in Nevada, the Carson City School District highly values school libraries as it promotes literacy through funding, a full-time library staff at each school, and certified teacher-librarians at CHS and the middle schools.

Many amazing opportunities are going on in the CHS school library. The CHS Library is piloting the Nevada Teacher-Librarian Evaluation framework and transitioning from a “library” to a collaborative learning commons.

Senator Square: Carson High celebrates Governor Sandoval's 'Week of Respect' proclamation

Brian Sandoval proclaimed Oct. 3-7 to be the “Week of Respect” throughout the state of Nevada.

Senator Square: Carson High School seniors rise to the occasion

Something which might not draw a great deal of attention around CHS is the Senior Sunrise, because how many 17-year-olds want to get up even earlier in the morning than they already have to, especially on a Wednesday knowing full well they will not be able to run home first and shower before school begins. That would be crazy, right.
