Introduction
As an immigrant and a naturalized U.S. citizen myself, with several generations of U.S. citizens in my extended family tree and none left in Europe, I am writing to express my most vehement protest against the proposed “reforms” in our immigration laws that are being announced at the present time, whether they come from the president or Congress.

Lake Tahoe Mobility 2035 Transportation Plan approval brings emission reduction strategy online
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 12/19/2012 - 12:35pmAlong with the Lake Tahoe Regional Plan Update, Mobility 2035, which is the Lake Tahoe Regional Transportation Plan and Sustainable Communities Strategy, was also approved by regional boards last week at Harvey’s Resort convention center in Stateline, NV. Passage of the Sustainable Communities Strategy makes Tahoe the fourth region in the state of California to approve a plan that complies with new greenhouse gas emissions legislation, according to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) and Tahoe Metropolitan Planning Organization (TMPO).

Twelve of the 14 voting members of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency's governing board voted in favor of the new plan, with one member voting against it and another abstaining, according to TRPA spokesman Jeff Cowan.
Business interests say the plan is an overdue overhaul of regulations that will jump-start Tahoe's tourism economy while also protecting its environment.
Final action expected this week on Lake Tahoe Regional Plan Update
Submitted by editor on Sun, 12/09/2012 - 4:58amClosing out a multi-year process to update the Lake Tahoe Regional Plan, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board is scheduled to vote Wednesday, Dec. 12 on the updated plan and supportive environmental documents at Harveys Resort convention center in Stateline.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. with brief statements by state leaders whose leadership resulted in key compromises allowing the plan to move forward, according to TRPA officials.
Carson City students to apply research and robotics during LEGO League challenge

FIRST is founded by inventor Dean Kamen as a way to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology. The competition brings its biggest-ever annual FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) season to Northern Nevada with the 2012 “Senior Solutions℠” Challenge.
Workshop for proposed South Shore Lake Tahoe Highway 50 realignment project set; public comment sought

Nevada Attorney General Announces Sentencing Of Medical Equipment Provider For Medicaid Fraud

Washoe County District Judge Steven Kosach sentenced Giller on Tuesday to 18 to 48 months imprisonment for each count, to be served consecutively, and additionally ordered Giller to pay $226,000 in restitution, penalties and costs.

America’s disabled veterans get a break on the price of sport fishing and hunting licenses and are provided some special opportunities.
DFG offers reduced-fee hunting and fishing licenses to both resident and nonresident disabled veterans.
Any honorably discharged, disabled veteran with a 50 percent or greater service-connected disability who wants to hunt birds or mammals, or fish in California is eligible.

State Sen. Bill Raggio, R-Reno, announced his retirement today, ending a 38-year career in the state Senate.
He released a statement this morning making his resignation effective Jan. 15, 2011, citing mobility problems as the chief reason for his retirement. He said the time has come for him to “step aside” and make way for someone “who can give the position a 100 percent effort.”
