"And cheerfully together we can tidy up the place
"So hum a merry tune
"It won't take long when there's a song to help you set the pace"

Snow White and the seven little miners understood all too well the challenges of living in a confined space, something most Americans right now are dealing with.

Northern Nevada Dream Center's DC Hire fills gap in Carson City community

Tucked inconspicuously into the iStorage business park off U.S. Highway 50 East in Carson City is the Northern Nevada Dream Center, a local non-profit known for helping meet the essential needs of low income individuals.

MOS Talk: Table tools help make data less intimidating

When I open a document and see a grid full of data that I am tasked to make sense of, I immediately want to go hide under a rock.

Okay, maybe not quite that dramatic, but too much information all at once can cause a certain amount of angst.

MOS Talk: Office makes it easy to secure your documents

Document protection is more important than ever these days with virus threats seemingly omnipresent in cyberspace, the online world of the Internet and Worldwide Web.

MOS Talk: Paste only what you want, not what you don't

I recently helped a person figure out how to copy text from a web page onto a Microsoft Office document without all of the Internet hitch hikers along for the ride.

MOS Talk: Work effectively around redundancy with Macros

There are few work practices as inefficient and costly to a business as redundancy. Reinventing the wheel on every project only makes work harder, not easier.

MOS Talk: Office makes being in two places at once possible

I've often mused that I should be cloned so that I can be everywhere I need to be at the same time.

But nobody thus far has come knocking on my door offering millions of dollars for the right to duplicate me. That's probably a good thing, though, because I'm not so sure the world is ready for carbon copies of me wandering around.

MOS Talk: Templates save time and work

Time is a precious commodity. Once it's gone, we can't get it back.

Time machines, like the one written about by H.G. Wells, haven't been invented yet. Until DeLoreans with flux capacitors become a reality, we have to make the most of our time and make it count.

MOS Talk: PDF offers better document sharing, file preservation

When my sister and I were in college, we often had difficulty sharing information by computer. I worked on an Apple Macintosh, while she used an International Business Machines (IBM) unit with a Microsoft Windows operating system.

MOS Talk: Fitting it all on one page

Growing up in Oregon's Willamette Valley, I had become accustomed to the occasional paper plant along the Interstate 5 corridor between Eugene and Portland.

MOS Talk: Keyboard shortcuts improve productivity, support ergonomics

During World War II, German intelligence officers learned to spot American spies from cues as simple as their eating habits.

Westerners commonly used the same hand for the fork as they did the knife, putting one down to pick up the other. Nazi agents observed this subtle behavior, often tipping them off to American spies.

There really can be too much of a good thing. For one Carson City area non-profit, the growth of its programs and services has prompted it to search for a larger space.

Dream Center serves up Christmas dinner, caring in Carson City
