Speaking at the February 5th Democratic luncheon will be Carson City Library Director Joy Holt, who will provide an update on all of the library's many goings-on, as well as a run-down on some newly-acquired best sellers of special interest.

Joy's resume includes experience as a library aide, library assistant, academic student reference librarian, assistant library director, digital services librarian, assistant to the state librarian and deputy library director.

An introduction to advanced concepts of Microsoft Word, part of the Microsoft Office family of software programs. This two-day, six-hour course is designed for individuals with at least intermediate skills in Word, or who have completed the beginner and intermediate courses in this series. The class will explore key program terminology, and introduce students to the review, reference, view and mailings ribbons. At the end of the course, students will demonstrate effective document formatting and proofreading.

An introduction to intermediate concepts of Microsoft Word, part of the Microsoft Office family of software programs. This three-hour course is designed for individuals with some experience using Word, or who have completed the beginner course. The class will explore key program terminology, and introduce students to the insert, design and page layout ribbons. At the end of the course, students will demonstrate how to create an event flier. This course is the second in a series of three courses on Microsoft Word.

An introduction to beginning concepts of Microsoft Word, part of the Microsoft Office family of software programs. This three-hour course is meant for beginners who have little to no experience using Microsoft Word. The class will explore key program terminology and introduce students to the home ribbon. At the end of the course, students will be able to demonstrate how to draft a letter and/or complete a resume using templates. Supplement your learning in this class with Microsoft Word Fundamentals II and III.

An introduction to advanced concepts of Microsoft Excel, part of the Microsoft Office family of software programs. This two-day, six-hour course is designed for individuals with at least intermediate skills in Excel, or who have completed the beginner and intermediate courses in this series. The class will explore key program terminology, and focus on the formula and data ribbons. At the end of the course, students will be able to demonstrate how to perform complex calculations using logical formulas. This course is the third in a series of three Microsoft Excel courses.
