The Carson City Classic Cinema Club gets an extra-special visitor at tonight’s film viewing; STRAZZ, the Carson City Symphony’s Youth String Orchestra will be performing before ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ lights up the screen. With Thanksgiving just days away, the holiday season is just around the corner. The annual Holiday Craft Fair at Carson High features a plethora of handmade and locally crafted gifts for the loved ones on your shopping list. Take the plunge at the Carson Aquatic Center if you want to get a picture with Scuba Santa. Grab a coat, some friends, and your ID and head downtown for this month’s beer crawl. $15 gets you a glass and your first beer, from there you’ll pay only $1 for refills at several watering holes. St. Paul’s Lutheran Family on Saliman welcomes you to their annual Craftique Open House. You’ll find the Young at Heart Seniors Club hosting a faire at the Douglas County Community Center. The Carson Nugget’s Sierra Room will be home to several artisans, vendors, and crafters during today’s wine walk. There’s quite a bit more, and plenty that doesn’t involve shopping, so take a look and have a great time.

The fifth annual Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show will be held Friday, April 22, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm, and Saturday, April 23, 2016, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The show will be held at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Complex on Rufus Allen Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe. Admission to the show is free, and each attendee will receive a free door prize ticket for a drawing.

Meet the authors of some recently released books and get your books signed Oct. 4, 2014 in the Dema Guinn Concourse at the Nevada State Museum from noon until 3 p.m.

New York Times bestselling author Ellen Hopkins will lead a Meet the Authors dessert and wine reception in Carson City on Friday, June 14 from 6:30 to 9 pm in the Carson Nugget Community Hall in the Aspen Building on the Western Nevada College Campus.

The Sierra region’s own literary stars will be shining at the Ventana Sierra Advanced Writing Workshop Friday-Sunday, June 14-16, at Western Nevada College in Carson City.

New York Times bestselling author Ellen Hopkins is the keynote speaker and the architect of the event, designed to help writers of all genres and skill levels to be successful. All proceeds benefit Ventana Sierra Youth Housing and Resource Initiative, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit foundation created by Hopkins to provide housing and resources to local youth.
