Carson City health officials fight two battles: one against COVID-19, another against misinformation

In our region, as well as in many areas across the country, there have been massive spikes in COVID-19 transmissions over the past few months. Even as restaurants and bars were reopened, daily positive cases were generally staying within single digits inside the Quad-County region.

However, between October and December, both test positivity rates as well as overall cases — and deaths — have seen a massive increase. Local health organizations are now not only fighting against the disease, but against misinformation campaigns as well.

COVID-19 Thursday briefing for Carson City, Quad counties: 9 deaths, 308 new cases

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020 that there are 9 additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. We are also reporting 308 new cases and 164 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 6,777, with 3,312 recoveries and 68 deaths; 3,397 cases remain active.

Carson City, Quad County COVID-19 Wednesday health report: 49 new cases, 62 recoveries

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020 that there are 49 new cases and 62 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad County region. This brings the total number of cases to 6,469, with 3,148 recoveries and 59 deaths; 3,262 cases remain active.

Carson City, Quad County COVID-19 Tuesday briefing: 1 death, 232 of 402 new cases from prison camp

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020 that there is an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. The individual was a male Douglas County resident in his 80’s. CCHHS is also reporting 402 new cases and 6 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad County region.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Monday, Dec. 7, 2020 that there are two additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. The individuals were a male Carson City resident in his 90s and a male Lyon County resident in his 70s.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020 that there are 143 new cases and 18 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 5,869, with 3,048 recoveries and 56 deaths; 2,765 cases remain active.

Quad County, Carson City Saturday COVID-19 cases increase by 273, 11 recoveries

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 that there are 273 new cases and 11 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 5,726, with 3,030 recoveries and 56 deaths; 2,640 cases remain active.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020 that there are 161 new cases and no additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 4,314, with 2,062 recoveries and 33 deaths; 2,062 cases remain active.

Carson City, Quad County Tuesday COVID briefing: Positive cases soar more than 1K in week

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020 that there has been a significant increase in positive cases over the last week. Since Nov. 16, 2020, CCHHS has received over 1,000 positive results for the Quad-County region. Due to the high volume of cases, not all positive cases have been contacted. CCHHS is working to investigate the cases and reduce the back log in positive results.
