Assistant DA Mark Krueger to run for top Carson City District Attorney seat

Assistant District Attorney Mark Krueger on Saturday announced his candidacy for Carson City District Attorney.

As Assistant District Attorney, Krueger has been second in command at the Carson City District Attorney’s Office since 2012 and leads a team of 22 professional and support staff.

“I have extensive experience working with city government and the criminal justice system,” he said. “Carson City needs an experienced prosecutor, civil litigator and team leader to fill the important role of District Attorney and I bring that to the table.”

Maximum sentence handed down in 2013 Carson City killing on Super Bowl Sunday

David Michael Grimes, 33, was sentenced in Carson City District Court Tuesday to the maximum sentence for voluntary manslaughter in a Feb. 3, 2013 shooting outside a Washington Street home following a Super Bowl Sunday party.

Carson City DA warns new property owners of misleading deed processing solicitations

Carson City District Attorney Neil A. Rombardo and Assistant District Attorney Mark J. Krueger of the Criminal Division, warn of a potentially misleading solicitation for land deed processing from Property Transfer Services.

The District Attorney’s Office received information from local attorneys that Property Transfer Services has been sending solicitations to new property owners in and around Carson City recommending “all Nevada homeowners obtain a copy of their current Grant deed as evidence that the title to the property was in fact transferred to the new owner.”

Former Carson City high school teacher receives prison sentence for sexual conduct with student

Former Carson High School teacher Jennifer Dalton, 36, was sentenced Tuesday in Carson City District Court to a maximum of 30 months in prison on one felony count of sexual conduct with a student.

Dalton pled no contest on August, 20 to having a sexual relationship with a 17 years old male student.

Assistant District Attorney Mark Krueger argued that the court should send a clear message that teachers, who are in a position of trust by parents, families, and communities, should be sent to prison for violating that trust.

Carson City man receives maximum sentence in 2011 child abuse case

A 28-year-old Carson City man was sentenced in Carson City District Court Monday to the maximum sentence of 28 months up to 72 months in prison for one count of child abuse.

Franklin Laidley was convicted of crimes that happened between May 1 and May 13, 2011, in which he physically abused his live-in girlfriend’s six-month old daughter, said Carson City District Attorney Neil A. Rombardo.

The six-month old child sustained blunt force trauma to her head. According to the Criminal Information filed by the District Attorney’s Office, the injuries were consistent with the child being intentionally injured by being shaken and/or struck.

Rombardo to appoint Mark Krueger as Carson City Assistant District Attorney

With the recent appointment of Gerald Gardner to Chief of Staff for the Governor’s Office, Carson City District Attorney Neil A. Rombardo will be appointing Mark Krueger to fill the Assistant District Attorney position vacated by Gardner, according to a news release. Krueger will officially begin his new role as Carson City’s second in charge of the District Attorney’s Office on Sept. 24.
