Greenhouse Project dinner fundraiser, comedy, live music and more: Carson City region readies for upcoming weekend

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. The Union will host a dining fundraiser for the Greenhouse Project on Friday, and artist Jakota Wass performs at Bella Vita Bistro. The 43rd annual Wild Sheep Show will be held at the Reno-Sparks Convention. Comedian Marc Yaffee headlines the Carson Comedy Club on Saturday with much more in store for the weekend! Happy Groundhog Day, Carson City! While the prognosticating Punxsutawney Phil looks for his shadow in western Pennsylvania, our region is bracing for more Winter weather due to arrive this weekend.
Phil might speak for his neck of the woods, where he bats about .390, but I would keep an eye on our critters here to determine how much more Winter we have left.

Another summer weekend has arrived. The Carson City Fair will be open all day, but tonight is something special. The Bulls, Broncs, and Barrels Rodeo takes over the Fuji Park Arena. You’ll find another free outdoor concert in McFadden Plaza this evening featuring Road Daddy, food and fun. Youth Theater Carson City debuts its newest production, Into the Woods, Jr., at the Community Center and is a great option for a special kids’ night out. Keep reading, and you’ll find all that the area has to offer for a great time.

Finally Friday, Carson City. January is coming to a close, and personally, I’m hoping for an early spring. Let’s enjoy the last weekend before February with some live music. Drinking with Clowns hit the Sassafras stage at 8 p.m. – get there early for dinner and a good seat. Comma Coffee can fill you up with coffee, beer, tea, and some soulful songwriting. A to Zen is open to anyone and everyone that wants an audience. Skate to your own tune at the Arlington Square Ice rink: today is the last day to glide and slide.
