HopeFest, Comstock rodeo and jazz festival finale: Carson City region lined up for eventful weekend

Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days, including HopeFest9 on Friday, dirt bike races at Fuji Park, a job fair at Eagle Valley Children's Home, and the final weekend of the Jazz and Beyond festival and Levitt AMP outdoor concert series at the Brewery Arts Center.

GENOA, Nev. — Mormon Station State Historic Park is offering a number of exciting interpretive programs this August. Join park staff in the heart of the Genoa National Historic District for history talks, cooking classes, guided walks, and children’s arts and crafts activities.

Learn the satisfying and fun crafts of tooling leather and making baskets from lariat ropes. Quiet Woman Cattle Company will teach students how to create amazing baskets combining leather and rope. This workshop is an optional 2 day class. Students will complete a basket on the first day or may continue and learn more sophisticated leather tooling on day 2. Each student will walk away with their own handmade piece regardless of their class duration.
