United Latino Community helping to bridge gaps in Carson City

Learning a second language isn't as simple as sitting through classes and completing workbooks. Just ask clients at the United Latino Community (ULC) in Carson City, where learning a language is a shared experience and a common thread that binds people together.

April 27, 2018 - 6:00pm Want to learn Spanish? A basic Spanish class for beginners will start Friday, April 27, 2018, at 6 p.m. for six (6) weeks in Carson City as a fundraiser to help purchase the books for non-speaking English Hispanic adults.
If interested, please call for location, 775-888-2021. Reservations must be made in advance to save a seat.

Ellie Gibson, 90, recently read “Firefly Lane,” by Kristin Hannah. “I did three days straight, both day and night,” she said. “I didn’t make the bed, I didn’t do anything. I just read that book. It was so good, I cried halfway through it.”

September 16, 2015 - 5:00pm United Latino Community hosts a Learn Spanish Study Class for Beginners. Classes are on Wednesdays starting September 16, from 5:00 until 6:15 pm at United Latino Community, 1711 N. Roop Street (corner of Roop and Beverly). Learn pronunciation, basic conversation, and cultural tips. The first class will review the alphabet, subject pronouns, and the verbs ser and estar. Donations are welcome. May 13, 2015 - 5:00pm Come learn Spanish with us! We are meeting Wednesday, the 13th of May, from 5:00 until 6:15 at United Latino Community, 1711 N. Roop Street, corner of Roop and Beverly (use the back door after 5:00 p.m.). We will learn to tell time, practice simple verbs such as querer (to want) and tener (to have) and maybe work on direct object pronouns. Donations are welcome.
