During this fourth year of drought, many of Moura’s neighbors in the Lovelock area — arguably the bull's-eye for drought in Nevada — have no water for crops at all.

I fished a few long stretches of the river I have never fished before. I tip my hat to the Alpine County Fish and Game Commission. I just picked these spots at random because of the way they looked, Like something out of Field and Stream magazine.

In a drought, trees have a few adaptive defense mechanisms that help to reduce water loss. However, over extended periods of drought, tree growth and appearance can suffer and trees may die.

Freezing temperatures overnight, a brief warmup and then Sierra snow possible Sunday

A long period of mostly fair and warm weather will be coming to an end this weekend as a series of low pressure systems moves into the California Sierra and some spillover into Western Nevada.
The greatest impact will likely be to the western Sierra, where potentially a foot of snow could fall along the passes over the course of a few days, according to the National Weather Service. However, snow amounts at Lake Tahoe and rain or snow in Western Nevada likely won’t be as dramatic, forecasters say.
