Teenagers aren't joining the workforce, and Carson City pool programs are suffering
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Tue, 04/23/2019 - 5:03pmSummer is a time for ice cream, bike rides, carnivals, and of course, swimming. However, there is a shortage of lifeguards nationwide so extreme that pool programs are in jeopardy of shutting down.
“We are a part of the aquatic community that is suffering right now,” said Mike Freeman, Recreation Program Manager at the Carson City Aquatics Center.

The Carson Aquatic Center welcomes everyone to a ‘Dive-in Movie’ on their new LED screen: Finding Nemo is a perfect flick for the whole family. Funnyman Adam Stone headlines this week’s Carson Comedy inside the Carson Nugget for those needing a good laugh. The Carson Area Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America will gather to honor those who have given their all and have yet to come home during a POW/MIA Recognition Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial on the Capitol Grounds.

Carson City pool to reopen for Sunday family swim
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 06/07/2013 - 1:33amThe Carson City outdoor pool will be open for families to cool off on Sunday afternoons through summer. The pool had been closed Sundays for several seasons because of budget cuts.
Sunday's will have special rates and special themes to attract the entire family. With the many young families in Carson City, parks and recreation has decided to reopen the pool. Hours will be from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
