The following are 100 percent of the votes counted: combined absentee, early voting, Carson City Courthouse election day results and the full list from the Carson City Community Center from tonight. Total voter count is 25,061. Carson City Clerk Sue Merriwether reports 91.79 percent of the registered voters turned out to vote.

"John Wagner filed for the State Assembly in District 40 as a member of The Independent American Party. John lives in Carson City with his wife Sidney.

All Nevada political parties increased their voter registration numbers in March 2014, as shown by data released Tuesday by Secretary of State Ross Miller’s Elections Division.

Carson City Republicans still hold the share of registered voters, with 11,738 in March compared to 8,775 registered Democrats; 4,389 non-partisan; 1,547, Independent American; 226, other; and 223 Libertarian.

A Republican candidate for Assembly District 40 said he rejects the idea of being vetted by the Carson City Republican Central Committee, a policy the committee has in its bylaws.

Candidate Jed Block stated earlier this week that he was informed that a "secret Republican Vetting Committee" asked to see him in a closed meeting. He called the committee "a handful of self-promoted political bosses" who would "inform, if not instruct, the so-called rank-and-file how to think, how to vote."

Nearly 1.3 million Nevadans are registered as active voters at the end of November 2012, according to the Nevada Secretary of State's office.

The increase in active voter registration totals since the close of registration for the Nov. 6 general election is due in large part to the number of inactive voters who cast ballots and automatically became active voters according to federal and state law.

CARSON CITY – More than 1.2 million Nevadans are registered as active voters for the Nov. 6 general election as of the close of the registration Oct. 16, the Secretary of State’s office reported today.

Numbers released today by Secretary of State Ross Miller’s Elections Division show that Democrats registered nearly twice as many voters than Republicans since the end of September.

CARSON CITY – An ambitious effort to make major reforms to Nevada’s campaign finance laws moved to the state Senate today after three measures sought by Secretary of State Ross Miller passed the Assembly by a deadline last month.

CARSON CITY – State Controller Kim Wallin is seeking new authority from the Nevada Legislature to collect from those who owe the state money.

CARSON CITY – A state lawmaker testified today that the federal government’s unfunded mandates on issues such as clean air, clean water and flood zones are imposing costs on Nevada taxpayers without authority or justification.

CARSON CITY – Secretary of State Ross Miller made his pitch for campaign finance reform before an Assembly committee today, saying that while his two bills are extensive and complex at 155 pages combined, the many provisions are necessary because, “we are behind the curve.”
Miller, in testimony before the Assembly Legislative Operations and Elections Committee, said Nevada should provide increased transparency to voters about the campaign contributions and expenses of the candidates for public office.

CARSON CITY – In an effort to convince his fellow elected officials that filing campaign contribution and expenditure reports online and before early voting is not too onerous for candidates, Secretary of State Ross Miller said he will do so voluntarily in advance of the Nov. 2 general election.

CARSON CITY – One proposal sought to increase mining taxes and another wanted to define life as beginning at conception. A third would have required secret ballots for employee votes on whether to join a union and yet another would have given Nevada residents the right to reject participation in government backed health care.

CARSON CITY – Over the past several legislative sessions the state Senate Republican caucus has shown a willingness to work across the aisle with Democrats, with some GOP lawmakers voting more than once for tax increases as a way to balance the budget.

CARSON CITY — According to data released by the Nevada Secretary of State yesterday, the number of total registered Democrats only rose by 58 in April, fewer than the number of new registered members of Nevada’s largest third party, the Independent American Party, which has 374 more registered voters. This is also well under the 710 new nonpartisan voters and 1,268 new Republican voters.

CARSON CITY – With federally mandated health insurance now the law of the land barring a successful legal challenge, some state lawmakers say it is more urgent than ever to create competition among insurance providers by allowing Nevada residents to buy polices from out of state companies.

CARSON CITY – One of the major backers of a proposed 2008 measure aimed at raising the bar on tax increases said today a court ruling upholding the right of Tea Party of Nevada candidate Scott Ashjian to remain on the ballot shows the need for more clarity in state election law.

A crowd of about 600 people gathered around the courtyard surrounding the Nevada State Capitol for the tea party rally. Many held signs condemning big-government policies, calling for Senator Harry Reid’s defeat, protesting tax increases, and ridiculing President Barack Obama.
