Rockabilly Riot, cancer awareness fitness events, Dayton Valley Days and more: Carson City region set for jam-packed weekend

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Rockabilly Riot car show, Dayton Valley Days, a pancreatic cancer awareness walk at Silver Oak Golf Course, the annual Pooch Plunge at the Carson Aquatic Facility, horse endurance races in Virginia City, history talks at Mormon Station Park and much more!

This August, troves of visitors from all over will flock to the 83rd annual White Pine Fair and Horse Races Western festival in Ely, Nev. Eventgoers can expect the same thrills and nod to Western tradition at this jam-packed, three-day event that has taken place for decades.

Business is kind of like a horse race. When you line them up at the starting line, the horses all look good. They are all fast, just some are faster than others. Some of them have better odds than the others. Nevada is a betting state, so I will ask you some betting questions.

White Pine County Horse Race Eclipse Weekend

Each year horse racing, a county fair and other traditional events dating back almost 100 years bring together neighbors and visitors alike in the remote town of Ely, Nevada. This year, the festivities planned Aug. 20 and 21 include a solar eclipse train ride on the historic Nevada Northern Railway.

Nevada Again A Focus Of Presidential Campaigns

RENO – Proof of Nevada’s importance in the outcome of the horse race that is the presidential election continued to be on display today, with President Obama visiting Las Vegas and GOP Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan making stops here and in Southern Nevada.

Ryan, appearing in front of a crowd estimated by local law enforcement at about 600, continued to push the Romney-Ryan ticket message calling for change, pointing to Obama’s failed efforts at job creation.

Although the campaign season does not start in earnest for another few months, the “status quo” seems to be that the horse race for Governor is already taking shape.
