Holiday Performance

Partly sunny skies and a daytime high in the mid-40s looks to be the order of the day around the capital city as we roll into Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019. Happenings around town include a book presentation by urban fantasy author SM Reine at the Nevada State Library and Archives, a morning fitness walk and evening hike, dance classes, a meeting of the CCSD board, plus festive December music and more with Night Lights Holiday Jazz and Poetry at Carson City's Comma Coffee. The Carson City School District will hold its next School Board Meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 10 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

The meeting with begin with the Superintendent’s Report, which includes the Seeliger Choir Holiday Performance, Recognition of Ms. Jennifer Cherpeski for her years of service on the Family Life Committee, and general announcements.

Carson Valley Community Theater presents, “Christmas Through the Years”. Take some time out of your busy holiday schedule and join our talented local performers while we reflect on the meaning of Christmas through song.

Our music will revive your memories of the joys of the holidays, as we sing some forgotten favorites and many tunes that we have grown to love.

You won’t want to miss this holiday performance. December 27, 28, and 29. Evening shows Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and Matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2:00pm.

Do you have children in the Carson City School District? Then most likely this month you’ll be attending at least one holiday concert as December seems to be the most musical month of the year for Carson City kids.

With the holiday season now in full swing, it’s only appropriate that the Reno Jazz Orchestra (RJO) brings Jazz for the Holidays to Northern Nevada for all to enjoy on December 19th and 20 at Nightingale Hall - University of Nevada. Sharing the stage with the 17 piece big band this year is Tierney Sutton, 2015 GRAMMY Nominee for “Best Jazz Vocal Album”.

On Saturday, December 15th the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City is hosting several holiday events.  From 10am-4pm the museum will have its first annual Holiday Craft Sale.  They will be featuring Carson City Pottery which is housed in the museum.  Staff and students will be giving demonstrations and selling work for last minute holiday purchases.  In addition, the museum gift shop will be having a one day only sale, 20% off for members and 10% off for non-members.  Admission to the sales are free.  Limited vender space still available.  Contact Mary Ann at 884-2226
