Pioneer High School Celebrates the Class of 2020

Artist and poet, Jaeda DeWalt wrote, “When we learn how to become resilient, we learn how to embrace the beautifully broad spectrum of the human experience.” If there is one word to describe Pioneer High School’s class of 2020, it would be “resilient.”

Senator Square: Carson High School, Empire students share Carson River experience

Editor’s note: The following was written by Carson High School biology teacher Megan Schuler.
Recently, several CHS freshman Biology classes had the opportunity to work with fourth graders from Empire Elementary in Carson City. Students learned about conservation, the water cycle, and the Carson River watershed. CHS students, trained by the River Wranglers conservation group, and on a very windy day, met up with Empire Elementary students at Baily Pond.

Carson City's Pioneer High School picks Employees of the Year

It has been said that good people bring out the good in other people. The sentiment rings true in Carson City for two very special employees at Pioneer High School, Phyllis Atkinson and Monica Ward. They were nominated by their peers to be recognized for their tremendous efforts. Mrs. Atkinson is the educator of the year and Ms. Ward is the classified employee of the year.

Senator Square: Carson High teachers raffle personal items to help Paradise fire victims

CHS Social Studies teacher Angila Golik, along with teachers Curtis Kortemeier, Mike Malley and John Martin, and a few other teachers, wanting to help the fire victims in Paradise, Calif. have donated completed art pieces to be raffled among teachers and the Carson City community since many of them know someone affected by the fire.

Pioneer High School's Don Bland honored by Nevada Association of School Boards

On Saturday evening, November 18, at its Annual Conference held in Reno at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, the Nevada Association of School Boards recognized the achievements and contributions of school board members, teachers, administrators, educational advocates, and others from across the State. Mr. Don Bland of Pioneer High School, Carson City School District, was awarded Innovative Educator of the Year.
