Carson Valley Medical Center Great Outdoors Health Fair Oct. 20
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 10/08/2018 - 3:35pmCarson Valley Medical Center has moved its annual community health fair to the middle of autumn, with this year’s event scheduled to take place Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon on its main campus, 1107 Highway 395 N in Gardnerville.
Free flu vaccinations will be offered during this year’s fair, along with a variety of free health screenings including glucose testing, peripheral artery disease screenings (Ankle-Brachial Index), blood pressure checks, Body Mass Index readings and more.

Genoa’s Cowboy Festival takes over the tiny town with music, poetry, artisans, food, and fun and the Comstock hills will roar to life with motorbikes during the annual Virginia City Grand Prix. While you’re waiting, enjoy a jaunt with Muscle Powered along the Carson River or take an Easy Walk to the Pioneer Cemetery. Tonight, songstress Canyon White will take the stage at Living the Good Life.

Comma Coffee can fill you up with coffee, beer, tea, and some soulful songwriting. A to Zen is open to anyone and everyone that wants an audience. The fair will feature free immunizations for both children and adults, free blood pressure checks, and interactive booths offering education on diabetes, tobacco use cessation and prevention, gang prevention and awareness. The fair will also offer information on many other community groups, such as Dayton Task Force and Dayton Food Pantry, as well as health services in the Dayton region.
