CARSON CITY — After a month of fundraising, Carson Tahoe has raised over $42,000 toward supplying reusable ENVO N95 masks for their frontline workers. Now, an anonymous donor has offered a match, allowing donors to double their impact. That’s right, every new ‘Sponsor A Caregiver’ gift received until Feb. 21 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000.

CARSON CITY — We are now approaching a full year of coordinated efforts to address and minimize the spread of COVID-19. This has presented challenges to many, including health systems near and far. Early this year, Carson Tahoe Health began to pivot service lines and conserve personal protective equipment (PPE).

The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County will receive $131,661 to partner with the University of Nevada to demonstrate real-time transit infrastructure monitoring in the City of Reno through FTA’s Real-Time Asset Management program.

CARSON CITY — Last week, the Emergency Nurses Association announced that Carson Tahoe Health Emergency Department received the esteemed Lantern Award for 2020, which will span until 2023. The ENA recognizes just 25 emergency departments worldwide that exemplify exceptional practice and innovative performance in the core areas of leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research.

In response to the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) the U.S. Department of Treasury has allocated funding under the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (“CARES”) Act, Public Law 116-136, which was signed on March 27, 2020) to reimburse local governments for expenses incurred in responding to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

CARSON CITY — Most uninsured Nevadans now qualify for Medicaid coverage for COVID-19 testing at no cost. Nevada Medicaid now covers COVID-19 testing and testing related services for most uninsured Nevadans, available under the Families First Coronavirus Relief Act.

Citing a troubling uptick in the state’s COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, Gov. Steve Sisolak has announced a new state mandate requiring individuals to wear a facial covering or mask while in public.

CARSON CITY — According to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s (DETR) May 2020 economic report, employment in Nevada is up 32,700 jobs over the month and the unemployment rate declined to 25.3 percent.

Carson City is set to receive $10.2 million, Lyon County, $10.5 million and Douglas County, $8.9 million in federal CARES Act funding to assist local governments with unanticipated expenditures created by the COVID-19 pandemic, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak announced.

The 2020 Summer Concert Series at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys has been canceled in response to the public health emergency involving Covid-19, Another Planet Entertainment announced on May 22.

According to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s (DETR) April 2020 economic report, employment in Nevada is down 244,800 jobs over the month and the unemployment rate rose to 28.2 percent.

This report is the first report which covers the period affected by the COVID-19 public health emergency and shows the impact of temporary business closures in the state.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration announced Thursday a $3.7 million grant award to the Carson Area Metropolitan Planning Organization in Carson City as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, signed by President Donald Trump on March 27.

During this pandemic, I would love to think I am in fact a builder because I strive to see the best in this, because I have been helping those struggling immensely during these hard times, and because I am doing my best to help the medical professionals I know.

The State of Nevada is set to receive a total of $1.25 billion in support from the Coronavirus Relief Fund set up through the U.S. Department of Treasury. Congressman Mark Amodei, NV-02, made the announcement via a news release Monday.

Dear Friends, I wanted to send my very best wishes to each of you for a peaceful and safe Spring Break. During the past three weeks, I have marveled at the professional services and selfless acts of kindness you have delivered during one of the most incredible events of my career.

An update was given to the Carson City Board of Supervisors regarding emergency operations being provided by Carson City Health and Human Services as well as the quad county Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

During the discussions, Tom Raw, Deputy Emergency Manager for the EOC, said they do not want to publicly disclose the amount of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) the city has. Carson City Health and Human Services Director Nicki Aaker also said they have stopped putting in orders for PPE since orders were not fulfilled in the past.

CARSON CITY — The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is pleased to introduce a new initiative — The Community Fund — established to serve as a resource for patients and families facing financial hardship, who might not otherwise seek the medical treatment they need and deserve.

The Board of Supervisors will hold its next meeting on March 7, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 East William Street.

Carson City Health and Human Services is partnering with Carson City Emergency Management to conduct a Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response the week of Sept. 17-21. The capital city is the first jurisdiction in Nevada to conduct the assessment.

The Life Change Center in Carson City and Sparks are among three community provider organizations picked to receive the Opioid State Targeted Response Treatment and Recover Center grant, the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services announced this week.

The Division of Public & Behavioral Health (DPBH) is working with healthcare, public health, emergency management, ethical and legal partners to develop Crisis Standards of Care (CSC) Guidance for the state of Nevada. Ebola virus disease, a severe and often fatal illness in humans, is an international health emergency, a devastating and horrifying disease. Thousands have died in the ongoing Ebola epidemic.

In a remarkable interfaith gesture, Nevada’s faith leaders from various traditions will join together to pray for God’s mercy and for the worldwide Ebola victims and their loved ones and care providers in Nevada Governor’s Mansion on Nov. 13. The public is welcome to this free event which will start at 5:45 p.m. at the Nevada Governor’s Mansion, 606 Mountain St., Carson City.

CARSON CITY – A team of about 20 Nevada public health professionals recently learned and practiced warehouse skills needed to unload, inventory and ship out massive amounts of medications or other items that could be needed in the event of a public health emergency.
