Dayton Golf Course hosts chili cookoff, tasting and silent auction to benefit Food Pantry
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 01/21/2020 - 8:02amDAYTON, Nev. — The Dayton Chili Cookers are partnering with Healthy Communities Coalition’s Dayton Food Pantry for their annual chili cookoff, silent auction, and raffle to benefit the Pantry. Organizers say the community made this event a big success last year, when more than $3,700 was raised, and they are excited to see the turn out this year.

The actual run begins at 10:30 a.m. The total net proceeds will go to helping the Adopt-a-Vet Dental Program provide dental care for low income Northern Nevada veterans. See flyer above for details. The winning poker hand wins $500 and there will be food, fun, music and great raffle prizes.

It was a great time as crawlers braved the downpour, stopping at a dozen downtown Carson City locations. Lots of great raffle prizes were given away at the end and, as you can see in the photos, smiles all around.

Last night we had 94 adults and 29 children signed in for our Westside Cruiser ride, and the miles and trips are really starting to rack up for the Bicycle Commuter Corporate Challenge. This fun ride takes you from the Great Basin Brewing Company in Sparks, through Victorian Square, along the Truckee River, through downtown Reno, and then back again. There are many fun stops along the way as you collect your poker hand. The highest hand at the end wins an Electra cruiser! There are many other great raffle prizes as well, and they always donate the money to a good cause.
