Weather conference at Lake Tahoe to feature Nobel Prize team winner
Submitted by editor on Mon, 12/31/2012 - 2:13pmChris Field, a 2007 Nobel Prize team winner and lead author of the study on the effects of global climate change will be the keynote speaker at Lake Tahoe South's Operation Sierra Storm Meteorologist Conference, Jan 10.
Field, was the Co-Chair for Working Group II of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) which shared the 2007 Peace Prize with former Vice President Al Gore. He’s the director of the Department of Global Ecology, Carnegie Institution for Science at Stanford University and a 2009 Heinz Award recipient, recognizing extraordinary environmental achievement.

Cars were destroyed, roads were washed away, subway tunnels were flooded, and due to interrupted supply lines and power outages, many gas stations are now without fuel or simply unable to run their pumps. Long lines are forming at the stations that are open, and rationing is even being enforced in some places.

To make my point, a fairly large ad appeared in the Saturday, October 20th edition of the NV Appeal which had a picture of two older people and a young child and it said “Loving grandparents leave no debts for their grandchildren, vote no on CC#1”.
Carson City Symphony Concert 'Scandinavia and All That Jazz' set for Sunday

After the first half of the concert, harmonica player Tom Stryker will lead a harmonica workshop for youth attending the concert. Each will be given a harmonica and learn to play a tune. After intermission, they will perform on stage.

Calling the McKeen Motor Car #70, Virginia & Truckee Railway Motor Car #22, "the best surviving example of the first commercially viable application of internal combustion power in a self-propelled railroad car" the designation possess exceptional value and quality in illustrating or interpreting the heritage of the United States, Salazar said.

The new Wildlife Water Development Atlas includes 160 full color, detailed map pages covering the entire State of Nevada. Each map page is drawn at 1:144,000 scale (one inch on the page is approximately equal to 2 ¼ miles on the ground), which means that each map now offers much more detail than any previous Water Development Atlas.

New water development atlas unveiled
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 09/07/2012 - 5:17amIn the mid ‘80s, the Nevada Department of Wildlife began printing a small publication that included maps showing the location of water developments (referred to as guzzlers) for the southern region of Nevada.
Guzzlers are metal and fiberglass structures built in suitable wildlife habitats designed to collect rainwater and provide an additional source of water for wildlife of all types and sizes.
