Nevada tourism office puts together summer 2017 bucket list

As the weather warms up, people begin to daydream about the ideal summer. Phrases like “best summer ever” and “#Summer2k17” get thrown around. To ensure those dreams live up to expectations, Nevada has put together a summer bucket list for adventurers, explorers and travelers of all types.

More people will be out on the streets Monday night in Carson City than any other evening of the year as the Nevada state capital prepares to celebrate Halloween night.

Sunday, Oct. 30: Things to do around Carson City

After an action-packed Nevada Day Saturday, Sunday traditions carry on, such as the 35th Annual La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow at the Carson Colony gym. Take the kids up to Virginia City for one last chance to catch Thomas the Tank Engine at the V & T Depot. It may be a little rainy, but the show must go on at the NV Day Carnival and Festival at Mills Park.

Haunted Hayride Celebrates Dayton History

On Thursday, October 27 bring your family and friends to the annual Haunted Hayride of the Historical Society of Dayton Valley. This free event is our "give-back" to the community and celebrates Dayton history in a fun, family-friendly evening. Continuous old-fashioned hayrides will circle through an Old Town Dayton filled with ghosts of the past, all of whom share a lighthearted attitude toward their history. The evening starts at the museum, where there will also be games for the kids and light refreshments. Costumes are encouraged and kids from 0 to 102 are invited!

Carson City high school seniors present final projects

For his senior project Shane Johnson, 18, wanted to do something practical, something that would be beneficial to his life and education goals.

“I designed and built a windmill,” he said. “It tied straight in to what I want to do, and it looked a lot of fun.”
Johnson joined his fellow Carson High School seniors on Monday, presenting their final projects to a of panel judges made up of Carson City community members.

Carson Victory Rollers Breast Cancer Charity Scrimmage

The Carson Victory Rollers are holding their annual breast cancer awareness scrimmage, this year with a Halloween theme "Save the Boooo-bies"- Ghosts vs. Goblins.

Remember the little ones when you decorate for Halloween

I would like to plead to our neighbors in Carson City to not have awful decorations up for Halloween. Halloween is a great time for fun and a bit of a scare, but not for rated R front yards.

It’s fun to decorate, but sometimes we kids feel like people decorate a little too much on Halloween. I go to school at Mark Twain Elementary. There is a house practically right in front of the school, and everyone sees it’s awful decorations, every morning while going to school.
