A walk through Carson City’s historic district is always a unique ghostly experience. In preparation for this Saturday's Ghost Walk, check out this blog by Janet Jones, a local psychic medium who has been exploring the spirits of Carson City for more than 20 years.

A quick update from today's Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting: The Carson City Ghost Walk, which provides entertaining tours of the city's historical district, failed to get enough votes to approve $12,000 in city redevelopment funds to continue the tours. The funding required four of the five supervisors to vote in favor, but it only received three votes.

Aberrations await and spirits linger during a two-hour walking tour July 23, Aug. 20 and Sept. 24 through the historic district of Carson City.
History and storytelling are the orders of the day on this tour through Victorian-style homes and neighborhoods, where reality and legend come together, leaving ghost walkers to wonder what is truth and what is fiction.

The weather wasn't ideal on Memorial Day weekend, but it didn't dampen the spirits of 10 media professionals invited here by the Carson City Visitor and Convention Bureau to see what the area has to offer.

"I know they were all impressed with all that we have to offer our visitors," said Candace Duncan, CCVCB executive director.

Carson City's history, arts and culture will be featured throughout the summer with a litany of events and activities to resonate with families and their budgets, according to the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The weekend is the weekend before Halloween, which around these parts has been come to be known as the “Haunted Weekend”. It started with the Carson City Ghost Walk, which has been a tradition for over a decade, and then the Carson Valley got into the act. There’s now enough going on to keep you busy through the whole weekend. Tours will explore Minden, Gardnerville and Genoa, as well as the Mottsville Cemetery. If you’re looking for old-fashioned Halloween events, you’re in luck. Two big events will be held in Old Town Dayton on Oct. 29.

f you are brave enough, join "The Festival of the Spirits" with costumed guides as they lead you through Carson City's historic district.
Spirits of the past will appear as you hear the stories of their hauntings on Carson City's Historic Kit Carson Trail.
There are two tour choices; the Curses Tour and the Rumors Tour. They depart from 3rd and Carson Street. First tour at 10 a.m. (departing every 30 minutes) and last tour at 2 p.m.

Friendly ghosts will lead tours along Carson City’s historic Kit Carson Trail offering tales of the city’s haunted Victorian homes and buildings along two different routes. The “Friends in Low Places” guided cemetery tour is a new addition to the annual festivities, Oct. 22 - 23.
