A fashion show sponsored by DV8 Salon Studio to benefit Pets Of The Homeless will be presented at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City on Saturday, August 17 at 1:30 p.m. Trendy and unique fashions will be featured by Stein Mart with hair and make up being done by DV8 Salon studio, with guest makeup artist Regina Wolford from “Wake up with Make up.”

Doctors have told Leslie McGarry her cancer is terminal, predicting she has between two to five years left to live.
She disagrees.

“I don’t feel like,” she begins, but pauses to cover her 5-year-old daughter’s ears. “I don’t feel like I’m dying,” she continues. “Medically, I get it. But I refuse that diagnosis.”

One technician put it to her bluntly. “You have an expiration date,” he told her.

“I laughed. I do have an expiration date, we all do,” McGarry said. “But that’s up to God. He has the final answer.”

The Flying Pig, Carson City’s Community Flea Market, is launching a fantastic summer series of events at Mills Park beginning Saturday, May 31. Up to 100 local vendors will gather in the shade of the popular Pony Express Pavilion, offering a huge selection of new, used, and repurposed treasures to delight bargain hunters and specialty shoppers alike.

Parks 4 Paws presents its 3rd Annual Bark Whine and Dine fun raiser event, Hosted by Mayor Bob Crowell. Featured events include food from Local's BBQ, microbrews, raffles, a silent auction and music by CHS Link Crew. Cost is $25 per person.
