Good morning Carson City and happy Saturday! It’s going to get hot again today with a high of 93, but don’t worry, as we get out further into the week the weather will turn more autumnal with highs in the 70s. It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

Saturday, September 14

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region packed with excitement over the next three days. Events include the Silver State Art Festival at Fuji Park, suicide awareness walks in Carson City, a Celtic faire at Dangberg Home Ranch, the ninth annual Edible Pedal bike ride at Bowers Mansion, train rides in Virginia City and much more!

Sierra Music Society continues its popular Salon Series with P’Opera! soloists, delectable small bites, wonderful wines, and fun on Saturday, September 14, from 6 to 9 pm. We will present “Savor” in a beautiful home located in Southwest Reno. For just $75 you will enjoy wine tastings and food pairings.

Sierra Music Society continues its popular Salon Series with P’Opera! Soloists, Delectable Small Bites, Wonderful Wines, and Fun on Saturday, April 28 from 6 to 8 p.m.

We have survived the first week of 2018, and that deserves some celebration. Put a smile on your face at the Brewery Arts Center: their monthly improv night will have you in stitches. Ev Musselman of the Trippin King Snakes takes the stage at Living the Good Life and will have you on the dance floor. Meet artist Carrie White at the Carson City Art Gallery. Her bright abstract-impressionistic work will be showcased throughout the month. Read on for all of Friday’s fun stuff.

Friday, Jan. 5: Things to do in Carson City

December has arrived, and all things holidays are on the way. The annual Silver and Snowflakes Tree Lighting Celebration tonight will shut down traffic on Carson City for a little while. Sleigh rides, caroling, the Empty Bowls Soup Fest, and a performance by the Youth Theater Carson City Showstoppers are just some of the planned festivities. Stay downtown for comedy at the Carson Nugget, Improv at the Brewery Arts Center, or a live DJ at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar and at Battle Born Social. Keep reading, though, that’s just the tip of the Friday happenings iceberg.

FRIDAY:

The wind yesterday has blown some winter our way. The snow levels aren’t expected to reach Carson City, but stranger things have happened. November is a month filled with holiday craft shows, and it starts now. Check out what the Young at Heart Seniors Club has to offer at their annual show at the Douglas Community Center. Capital City Arts Initiative celebrates 15 years of bringing arts and culture to our valley: help them celebrate at the Adams Hub on Proctor and enjoy their silent auction featuring the works of several local artists.

This weekend is going to be packed. Vintage Airstreams will line the streets, a wine walk, the Aviation Roundup in Minden, Virginia City’s Outhouse Races, Oktoberfest at Fandango: and that is just the tip of the iceberg. Get a jump on the festivities tonight with plenty of live music, two artists’ receptions, karaoke, comedy, or the Witchcraft and Wizardry Ball at the Boys and Girls Club. Join in solidarity with our famous city to the south by wearing blue and silver today and attending the Candlelight Vigil at the Capitol Building.

Labor Day weekend usually signifies the end of summer. Give it one heck of a send-off: the downtown Carson wine walk, rib cook-off in Sparks, Virginia City's Civil War Days, and the Heavenly Days carnival, music festival and car show in South Lake Tahoe are but a few of your options. Tonight, Improv at the Brewery Arts Center will get the belly laughs going. Unwind with some live music at Living the Good Life or some karaoke at the Spoke Bar and Grill. Artisan Gail Rogers is the featured guest at tonight's Carson City Art Gallery reception.

Sierra Music Society continues its popular Salon Series with Food Tastings/Wine Pairings, and Soloists on Saturday, September 9th from 6 pm to 8 pm.

We will be in the beautiful home of Jon Garman and Lynne Gray located in Southwest Reno to present “A Night to Indulge” for an evening of social pleasure. For just $75 you will enjoy Wine Tastings/Food Pairings in four courses with specially selected wines to complement.

Sierra Music Society continues its popular Salon Series with Food Tastings/Wine Pairings, Soloists, and Fun on Sunday, February 12th at 4 pm. We are partnering with Fine Vines Wine Shop at 6300 Mae Anne Avenue #3 in Northwest Reno to present “Decadence, Divas & Divos” for an evening of social pleasure. For just $75 you will enjoy Wine Tastings/Food Pairings in three courses with a wine sommelier selecting and discussing the wines. Beautiful music sung by soloists from P’Opera! in an up-close-and-personal setting will be the entertainment.

Soup and ice cream only seem like the odd couple of food pairings. But as far as Geoff and Kimberly Landry are concerned, there can be no better complement.

The Friends of Rob Joiner for Supervisor (Ward One)will be hosting a "Meet and Greet" campaign party and fundraiser.
