Gov.-Elect Sandoval Names 29-Member Transition Advisory Team

CARSON CITY – Nevada Republican Gov.-elect Brian Sandoval announced today his selection of 29 Nevadans to serve on his transition advisory team, including Bill Bible, former president of the Nevada Resort Association, and state Sen. Dean Rhoads, who backed Sen. Harry Reid’s re-election bid.
The diverse group of community leaders from across Nevada will provide input and feedback to Sandoval on a wide range of issues.

Carson City Center/Nugget Project: Digesting the details

Monday's Advisory Committee Meeting included a lot of new details about the Nugget Project that we are still looking through.

I think they made the best pitch for this project so far, and showed that this somewhat scaled-down version is at least close to being feasible, given the revenue constraints requested by members of the Board of Supervisors.

Greater Nevada Mortgage Services received the highest award ever presented to a lender, the “Most Valuable Partner”, by the Nevada Rural Housing Authority at their recent board meeting.

Carson City authorities look for suspects involved in road rage incident

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies are looking for possibly two vehicles in a road rage dispute that happened earlier tonight in the area of Highway 395 and Fairview on-ramp.
Sheriff Ken Furlong said one of the vehicles has been stopped.
Initial feedback from those who reported the incident at around 7 tonight said that at least one person was heavily bleeding because of the dispute. Those reports, however, cannot be confirmed because the alleged person hasn't yet been found, Furlong said.

Motorcycle accident near Carson City on Highway 50 at Spooner shuts down traffic

Highway 50 on Spooner near Carson City is being closed in both directions this afternoon after a motorcycle accident in the west bound lane.
The accident was reported at around 4:30 this afternoon. Carson City and Douglas County emergency crews and the Nevada Highway Patrol are responding and Care Flight is preparing to land.
The accident is about 1.5 miles up Spooner Summit from Carson City in the westbound lane.
Initial reports called in by motorists to dispatch was that the motorcycle crashed and the rider was laying in the middle of the road.

Nugget Project developers present three visions of new downtown Carson City

The chosen developer of the Carson City Center, also known as the Nugget Project, presented three different options of what the project might look like tonight at the Carson City Community Center. (See the play-by-play notes here.)
The plans presented were best-case scenarios, since the feasibility studies are not yet complete.
The plans all had the same basic pieces that included the library/discovery center, office buildings, retail space and a parking garage.

Carson City Center Nugget project planners set open house for June 30

The community is invited to attend an information open house regarding the proposed Carson City Center Project, also known as the Nugget Economic Development Project, on June 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Community Center’s front lobby.

Thank you for your feedback and I know the staff is already busy. But I thought there was an existing committee that is advisory to the Redevelopment Board (BofS).
