I would like to express mine and Karen’s immense gratitude for the years and love our community, friends, staff and family have shown through our various endeavors — Cafe at Adele’s, political runs and support of an array of non-profits.

With the closing of Cafe at Adele’s, Carson City and its community will witness the end of an era.

This decision by owners Chef Charlie and Karen Abowd, comes in the wake of a fire that occurred March 28, and the subsequent inability to negotiate a settlement with the insurance company that would cover reconstruction costs.

The Carson Farmers Market will be hosting a "Farm to Table" Art Contest for Kids throughout July.

The new farm-to-table restaurant Gather in downtown Carson City will host its grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration this Wednesday, Oct. 3. Festivities begin at 5 p.m.

A new restaurant will have their opening Friday as they are nearly ready to begin bringing farm fresh food to the Carson City community.

The Winners of the 2018 Taste of Downtown fundraiser for Advocates to End Domestic Violence were announced Monday, with the Hacienda Market and Grill winning best overall.

As in elsewhere across the country, farms in Nevada are dwindling. But Carson City residents Casey and Rachel Sipe are keeping the agricultural vocation alive.

Lucky attendants at the fifth annual Celebrity Chef & Harvest Dinner, Nov. 10, will enjoy six courses created by chefs Charlie Abowd and Mark Estee.

The event, hosted the first time as a fundrasier for The Greenhouse Project and a tribute dinner to Paul Abowd, restaurateur and Charlie’s father, has grown into a benefit for The Greenhouse Project on site at Carson High School.

The reception begins with hors d’oeuvres at 5 p.m., followed by dinner.

The deadline to submit applications for Official and Signature Nevada 150 events will be 5:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12. Over 400 events have been held across the Silver State since Nevada Day 2013, in celebration of Nevada’s Sesquicentennial, with many more ahead. Using northern Nevada’s freshest harvest from local farms and ranches, Chef Ryan Scott is back for an encore performance.

Chefs Charlie Abowd and Mark Estee join forces for a second time, creating a menu for the fourth annual Celebrity Chef and Harvest Dinner that will outshine every past event. This year’s event takes place Monday, Nov. 11 in Carson City. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
