As Reno’s activity scene and small business offerings continue to rise in tandem, the Riverwalk District is putting downtown on the map with beautiful scenery and cultural diversity enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. And, while poker still races through our blood, Reno is embracing a fresh outlook on the infamous pastime.

Prepare and sample delicious Dutch oven recipes at Lahontan State Recreation Area this Saturday, May 17, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The park will provide all ingredients and supplies for a five course meal, including dessert. Carson City's own Slim and Minnie are your musical hosts for folk music night at Grandma Hatties Restaurant, 2811 S. Carson St. on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. It's an evening of familiar tunes and songs including many sing along songs. The show is family friendly with singing along and dancing encouraged. There's also room for wheel chairs, walkers and children in Grandma's big dining room.

The Brewery Arts Center is pleased to announce that the Proscenium Players, Inc. theater company will perform during the 2011/2012 season at the BAC. They will kick off their season with the production of “A Tuna Christmas”.

The PPI was founded in 1965 and since then has continuously entertained Carson City residents with a variety of shows. Over the years, the shows have been varied: drama, musicals, comedy, classical, improvisational, old favorites and avant-garde. Now, after a two year hiatus, the performance troupe is returning to the BAC.

The Brewery Arts Center in Carson City and ACCtv will launch a new Friday Films Series on June 17. The family friendly fun begins with a five week series of short films for children. Admission is free. All showings are at 6:30pm in the Performance Hall.

Carson City area walkers will go around the clock in the battle against cancer during the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

This celebration brings together numerous groups and individuals concerned about cancer in a unified effort to fight back.

Teams of enthusiastic residents will gather at Centennial Field for an overnight relay from 10am July 16th to 10am July 17th. The event celebrates anyone who has battled cancer and their caregivers and also remembers loved ones lost.
