Carson City's misdemeanor drug treatment court continues aim to recovery at 5-year mark

It was five years ago that the Misdemeanor Treatment Court began with the support and collaboration of Jason D. Woodbury, Carson City District Attorney, Karin L. Kreizenbeck, State of Nevada Public Defender, Ken Furlong, Carson City Sheriff, Chief Tad N. Fletcher, Department of Alternative Sentencing, and Community Counseling Center.

USDA partners to provide transitional housing for rural people in recovery from opioid misuse

On International Overdose Awareness Day, Assistant to the Secretary for Rural Development Anne Hazlett announced Friday that USDA has formalized an innovative agreement in which a nonprofit organization will purchase homes from the Department and convert them to transitional housing for people recovering from opioid misuse.

The NCJFCJ Resolves to Reduce the Use of Solitary Confinement for Youth

(Reno, Nev.) – The National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) has released its resolution on reducing the use of solitary confinement for youth. No research exists that indicates solitary confinement reduces behavioral incidents or improves the safety of facilities. The NCJFCJ recognizes that juvenile court judges have a responsibility to care for and protect youth within their jurisdiction and therefore supports a presumptive rule or policy against solitary confinement of youth, except when absolutely necessary for the safety of the youth, others or the facility.

The Life Change Center opening a new opiate addiction treatment center in Carson City

Stewart St, Suite #120 offering cutting edge treatment options for the hundreds of people struggling with pain killer and heroin addiction in the Carson area.

Carson City courts implement new misdemeanor treatment court for drug addicts

A new drug treatment process through Carson City's court system will begin with its first hearing July 2 at the Carson City Courthouse. The goal is to send addicts, especially those who are young, to substance abuse rehabilitation and counseling programs.

Carson City woman sentenced to prison for transporting methamphetamine

A 45-year-old Carson City woman who pled guilty in April to drug charges was sentenced Tuesday to 48 months in prison, with minimum parole eligibility after 12 months, for transporting methamphetamine.

The Tri-Net Narcotics Task Force received a tip Aug. 23, 2012, that Janna Hinsen, who had an active warrant, was staying at a location in Carson City, and would be picking up methamphetamine that day.
