Crowds have often flocked to the major corporate retailers in Carson City for the best deals of the season, and in recent years, stores have begun to open earlier and earlier for a leg up, breaching into Thanksgiving day. However this year, many stores are finally closing their doors on Thanksgiving Day, and more bargain hunters are turning to online deals for their holiday shopping.

While Carson City may be on a pause, residents and visitors are encouraged to safely support small businesses, every day not just on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 28. As of today, retailers must adhere to the 50 percent capacity limits, alternatively, many businesses use online marketplace platforms, which may be more convenient. The COVID – 19 impact left many small businesses reliant on online platforms to maintain sales.

The downtown Carson City wine walk is back this Saturday. Tickets can be purchased online ONLY at www.ccwinewalk.brownpapertickets.com. TICKETS ARE LIMITED. Tickets must be purchased by noon on the day of the event. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD IN PERSON.

Even with the Phase 2 opening set to begin Friday, the Carson City Wine Walk will hold off on their monthly event until at least July.

Heading into the first Saturday of the month and that means wine walk time in Carson City. Join the Downtown Business Association for the March community gathering, which runs from 1 to 5 p.m.

It’s that time again. Time to validate your passports to downtown Carson City. For the the third year, businesses are once again opening their doors to customers for the Passport to Downtown on Friday.

Trick or Treat Downtown at participating businesses. Mystery Prizes will be given out at surprise locations. Member businesses in the Downtown Business Association are hosting their 4th annual Candy Crawl on October 31st from 5pm to 6:30pm. This event is FREE and gives families a safe, fun and centrally-located option for Trick or Treating. The Downtown Carson City Business Association is hosting a celebration to showcase businesses from William Street to 5th Street and as well as kicking off the Nevada Day weekend right. This party will be on Friday, October 27th, starting at 11am with live music, food, drinks, art, street performers and a family fun center that includes bounce equipment and a petting zoo.

It’s time for the Nevada Day Weekend celebration! On Saturday, Oct. 28, watch the famous Nevada Day Parade, then head over to “Brewfest 2017!” where you’ll be able to try a variety of different beers from around the world.

Pat Travers will also be performing live at the Carson Nugget for two shows at 7PM and 9PM.

The Arlington Event Center will also host a Craft & Vendor Fair from Oct. 27-29.

Stand-up Comic Mickey Joseph was a finalist in 1998 SF Comedy Competition. Eric Bevans spent more than four hours touring Carson City businesses with his wife, Rebecca, and their daughter during the grand opening of the new downtown corridor last Friday.

“I went to businesses I’d never been to before, and I’ve lived here 25 years,” he said. “We made so many great discoveries — despite the rain.”

Amidst March snow flakes, officials from Carson City and Q&D Construction dug their shovels into a dirt mound at the intersection of Third and Carson streets nearly eight months ago to break ground on the Downtown Corridor Improvement Project.

Glistening from rain earlier Friday morning, the finished product was unveiled in front of hundreds at a formal ribbon cutting ceremony held in front of the Nevada State Capitol, featuring many of the people who helped to break ground earlier this year.
