Carson Valley Trails Association Hike for Health Day at River Fork Ranch

The Carson Valley Trails Association, in partnership with The Nature Conservancy and the Carson Valley Medical Center, will present its 8th annual Hike for Health Day on Saturday, September 17, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at The Nature Conservancy’s River Fork Ranch, located east of the Town of Genoa at 381 Genoa Lane.

Carson Valley Trails Association's Hike For Health this Saturday

The Carson Valley Trails Association (CVTA) is holding its annual Hike for Health Trail Adventure Day on Saturday, Sept. 20.

This year’s event is a multi-location Family Day with a culminating BBQ at the Nature Conservancy’s River Fork Ranch. Interpretive hikes and activities will occur at the River Fork Ranch, Fay-Luther Trail, Genoa Canyon Trail and Minden Gazebo from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The event is free. Participants must sign a release and waiver form. A parent or guardian signature is required for participants age 17 and under.

Carson City supervisors to hear Pine Nut 'Discovery Trail' proposal

A plan that calls for the construction of 45 miles of non-motorized trails, including eight new trail heads along the west side of the Pine Nut Mountains in Douglas and Carson City counties is being considered.

Fundraiser for the Carson Valley Discovery Trail

Genoa Trail System Grand Opening May 12

The Carson Valley Trails Association (CVTA) is making plans for the grand opening of the 16-mile Genoa Trail System, 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 12. This free event is open to the public and will take place at the Eagle Ridge Trailhead, located next to the green water tank, approximately 1.8 miles north of Genoa off of Jacks Valley Road on Eagle Ridge Road.

Volunteers Needed for Carson Valley Trails Association Trail Work Days

The Carson Valley Trails Association (CVTA) needs volunteers for scheduled trail work days in April on the Fay-Luther and Genoa Trail systems. Anyone who is interested is welcome to participate; no previous trail building experience is required. Volunteers must wear long pants, long-sleeved shirt, hiking boots, work gloves and sunglasses. Tools and hard hats are provided. Bring food and water.
