Stewart Indian School Cultural Center Museum in Carson City to reopen Tuesday

CARSON CITY — The Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum announced Thursday it is reopening to the public on Tuesday, Jan. 19, the day after the nation celebrates Martin Luther King Day.

Golf tournament, fundraisers, railbike tours and more highlight weekend events around Carson City

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. The Nevada Day Golf Tournament in remembrance of Mayor Bob Crowell will be held at Silver Oak Ranch Golf Course on Saturday. Dozens of fundraisers, including the Benson’s Feed 4 Paws 4-H group, will be scattered throughout the Carson City and Gardnerville areas. Nevada State Museum Family Fun Saturday to be featured as Facebook live event

To kick off our Dia de los Muertos celebration this year I will lead a craft making Facebook Live event at 10 a.m. Saturday as part of the Nevada State Museum Family Fun Saturday. We will be making tissue paper flowers that are used to decorate Dia de los Muertos Altars.

Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum in Carson City to reopen Monday

CARSON CITY, Nev. — The Stewart Indian School Cultural Center & Museum will reopen to the public on Monday, July 20, thanks to a generous donation from the family of a former Stewart Indian School principal. Opened in January and closed to the public in March because of the current health crisis, the Cultural Center faced severe budget cuts.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of holiday events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights, the 24th annual Parade of Lights in Gardnerville, the annual Project Empty Bowls dinner held at the Carson Mall, a Holiday Crawl in downtown Carson City and much more!
