COVID-19

We are reporting 111 new cases and 19 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. Of the 111 new cases, 100 are offenders and staff members from Warm Springs Correctional Center in Carson City. This brings the total number of cases to 2,127, with 1,809 recoveries and 26 deaths; 292 cases remain active.

We are reporting a possible COVID-19 reinfection in the Quad-County Region. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines a reinfection as someone who was infected once, recovered, and then become infected again 90 or more days after the first positive result.

On Friday, the Department of Corrections announced that Carson City's Warm Springs Correctional Center is currently on lockdown due to 93 inmate COVID-19 cases, as well as 7 staff COVID-19 cases.

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce Mark Twain Elementary School will resume in-person instruction with teachers and students beginning next week. Teachers and employees are expected to return Monday, Nov. 9, to conduct remote lessons, and students in specific grade levels and assigned cohorts are expected to return beginning Tuesday, Nov. 10, for in-person learning.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting an additional death on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020 due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. The individual was a Carson City resident. CCHHS is also reporting 38 new cases and 23 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,999, with 1,783 recoveries and 29 deaths; 190 cases remain active.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020 an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. The individual was a Douglas County resident. CCHHS is also reporting 24 new cases and 9 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,961, with 1,760 recoveries and 25 deaths; 176 cases remain active.

Debbie Barham, co-owner of Carson City-based DeBug Computer, Inc., has been named Northern Nevada coordinator for Ryan’s Case for Smiles, a non-profit with thousands of volunteers across the globe providing comfort to children with cancer.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Monday, Nov. 2, 2020 that there are 26 new cases and 26 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,916, with 1,732 recoveries and 23 deaths; 161 cases remain active.

CARSON CITY — A member of Governor Steve Sisolak’s staff based in the Capitol Office in Carson City has received a positive result for COVID-19 through a rapid test after developing symptoms over the weekend. The staff member was last in the office on Thursday, October 29, 2020, and was not symptomatic at that time.

Douglas County was notified on Nov. 1, 2020 that a Douglas County employee who has been involved in the election processes, tested positive for COVID-19. Douglas County has worked closely with Carson City Health and Human Services on contact tracing related to the positive case.

CARSON CITY — Nevada is home to 23 species of bats, some of which will be featured Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson St. in Carson City.

Celebrating Nevada Day in safety and style, the successful statewide socially distanced pop-up performances concluded in Reno and Carson City with multiple stops. UPDATE AND CLARIFICATION: The Carson City and the Quad-County region is currently experiencing a large spike of COVID-19 cases, most likely due to the lifting of many lock down restrictions, people not social distancing, wearing masks or those who are participating close together without face coverings in large gatherings.
