Happy Saturday Carson City! Tired of the fog yet? Well, there's a big storm that's scheduled to push in tomorrow, so it'll be interesting to see how that changes the weather.

Either way, we've got a ton of excellent events scheduled throughout the weekend, fog or no! Check below to see what's happening int he capital city for today and tomorrow.

Festival of Lights, Project Empty Bowls, Santa train and more: Carson City region readies for festive weekend

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of holiday events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights, the 24th annual Parade of Lights in Gardnerville, the annual Project Empty Bowls dinner held at the Carson Mall, a Holiday Crawl in downtown Carson City and much more! Senator Square: Comprehensive Life Skills students make fundraising candles

Everyone has a disability of some kind, but most learn how to cope with or overcome it; however, not everyone with a disability is aware enough to recognize whether or not they even have a physical challenge. These individuals have a severe and profound physical and neurological disability, cannot care for themselves, need full-time assistance, and are some of the kindest human beings in the world, many of whom are students in the Carson City School District and at CHS. Each year, students in the CHS Comprehensive Life Skills program make crafts to sell at the annual CHS Craft Fair and give as gifts.

Events around the Carson City region for Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11

Going into Monday, Nov. 11, 2019 it is Veterans Day. Federal, state and local government offices and schools are closed to observe the holiday. Thank you U.S. Veterans for your service to our great country. There are a number of organized happenings in the region, including parades in Virginia City and Reno, as well as events in South Lake Tahoe and Sparks. Plus a number of Carson City and Carson Valley restaurants are offering no cost meals as a gesture of gratitude to veterans and active duty military members. Also Monday is a discussion on homeless issues with local advocate and champion for those who are often without a voice, Dee Dee Foremaster.

Tiffani Barber was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer on Dec. 8, 2012. For those who did not know Tiffani, all she ever wanted to do was help people. She carried water and snacks in her car to give to the homeless and people less fortunate than her.
