Senator Square: CHS principal leads teachers, students through uncertain time

He is the fearless leader of Carson High School, and he is taking his teachers through uncharted territory in order to guide them into successfully teaching and caring for their students during this time of uncertainty. His name is Gavin Ward, and he is doing a fantastic job as the Principal of CHS, being both available and supportive while encouraging teachers, students, and even parents to engage their students with much-needed health, hope and heterochromatic learning.

Senator Square: Head coach, players offer free Carson City basketball clinic

“We did our free clinic at the Community Center, and what a turnout we had; around 100 participants showed up, we had a ton of fun, and we even had high school varsity players help coach the clinic as well” said Carson High School Varsity Basketball coach Jordan Glover.

Senator Square: Carson FFA competes, FBLA speaks and writing class launches online magazine

Capitol FFA traveled to North Valleys High School Feb. 1 in order to compete in the Northern FFA Zone Competition. CHS Agriculture Mechanics, Welding, and FFA Adviser and teacher Rebecca Glocknitzer said, "I know all of our students worked hard to prepare for Zone, and Mr. Mann and I are so proud of their efforts."

Joyful Noise Carson Children’s Choir Begins Spring Session

Carson City Symphony Association announces the Joyful Noise Carson Children’s Choir will begin Spring Semester rehearsals on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 22, 3:45 to 4:45 p.m., at Shepherd of the Sierra Church, 3680 US Highway 395 South in Carson City. Registrations will be accepted until January 29.

Senator Square: Carson High School teacher raises money for breast cancer awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this time every year touches the heart of one of the teachers at CHS: Art teacher Mike Malley, whose mother is a breast cancer survivor, due to early detection, has decided to take breast cancer awareness to a new level by putting on a fundraising event Oct. 18 at the Trimmer Barn from 5 to 8 p.m.

Two Eagle Valley Middle School students and two Pioneer High School students and their families experienced a tragic fire May 16 in Carson City.

Antonio and Alexis Trujillo’s family, and Jordan and Theodore Leyva’s family are now displaced following this incident.

Carson City Symphony chorus to begin rehearsals for June and July concerts

Attention choristers: The Carson City Symphony Chorus will begin rehearsals on Tuesday, May 17, for performances at the Governor’s Mansion on June 12 and in Genoa on July 4. Rehearsals are Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Choral Room in Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City.

Senator Square: Calling all Carson High School Alumni

For the last six years, Carson High School has held an alumni night at the Carson-Douglas basketball game in which alumni are recognized and celebrated. It’s a chance for alumni to come back and visit the old stomping grounds, support the Senators and a chance for us to celebrate contributions and the lives of CHS alumni. The Alumni games will be held February 13 against Douglas Tigers.

Senator Square: CHS Choir prepares for Feb. 14 Madrigal Dinner

The Carson High School Choral Program will have its Madrigal Dinner on Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 before February 1st and $25 after Feb. 1. A Madrigal Dinner or Madrigal Feast is an American form of dinner theater often held by schools.
