CASA of Carson City is looking to expand its volunteer base. There are thousands of children in the State of Nevada residing in foster care currently. These children have been removed from their homes, their friends and they need a strong advocate to stand up for them and express their wishes.

Come learn what it means to be a Court Appointed Special Advocate or CASA! Carson City CASA is beginning their first volunteer training session of 2019. Would you like to advocate for children? Do you feel strongly that a child's voice should be heard? Would you like to make a difference? Then CASA may be just for you.

CASA hosts March 1 volunteer information and training hour

Due to the cold and ugly weather the past couple of days, Court Appointed Special Advocates, also known as CASA, is again offering an information hour. Currently, there are over 100 children in the Carson City child welfare system. Less than 20 of those children are headed towards reunification with their parents.

The autumn CASA Of CARSON CITY Volunteer training begins Thursday, October 6th - 6-9pm at the CASA of Carson City office, 1539 E. 5th Street.

CASA volunteers are appointed by the court to serve as guardian ad litem for a case of abused or neglected children in a child welfare court case. Being a CASA volunteer requires patience, caring, research, writing, speaking and follow-through. A background check, references, application, interview and 30 hours of training are required. CASA volunteers make a difference for very vulnerable children.

CASA of Carson City will hold the first class in a 10 week CASA volunteer training, Thursday, September 24, 6-9pm, at the CASA of Carson City office, 1539 E. 5th Street.

CASA volunteers are appointed by the Carson City Juvenile Court to serve as guardian ad litem for a case of abused or neglected children in a child welfare court case.

The new CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Carson City Volunteer Training class for the Summer Session will start on Sunday, June 21, 2-5pm. 10 classes total through summer at the CASA office 1539 E. Fifth.

Please feel free to tell anyone you know that has expressed an interest in CASA Volunteering that everyone is welcome to the first class. Current CASA Volunteers, Foster Parents, Social Workers, etc. are welcome and encouraged to attend the first class.

Sierra Nevada Forums is presenting ‘Lions and Tracking and Bears, OH MY’ about the incredible animals in our foothills. ‘A Short History of Virginia City’ is to be found at the Nevada State Museum, followed by a book signing by Authors Ron and Susan James.
