Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 12/21/2020 - 8:16pmThis evening was "The Great Conjunction" of Jupiter and Saturn. They started out low in the sky but were very visible. Photos were taken off of Pine Lane in north Carson City with a Nikon Coolpix P-1000, which has a substantial zoom. As an added bonus I just had to zoom into the moon and capture it as well.
Early morning fliers take to Carson City skies this Mother's Day
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 05/10/2020 - 8:30amOn Sunday morning a pair of balloonists meandered across the skies of Carson City. Coming from the southeast they were eventually lost behind the trees heading toward Silver Oak Golf Course.
The balloonists were able to get in a last good view over Carson City on Mother's Day and ahead of a change in the weather beginning Monday.
Carson City wakes up to more snow: How much is in your neighborhood?

In Northwest Carson City near Western Nevada College, about 12 more inches accumulated overnight.

SpaceX rocket launch seen over Carson City skies
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 10/07/2018 - 10:57pmVisible in Carson City and throughout Northern Nevada, at 7:21 p.m. Sunday night, SpaceX successfully launched the SAOCOM 1A satellite from Space Launch Complex 4E (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The satellite was deployed about 12 minutes after liftoff.
Saturday brings out the big balloons over Carson City

Smoke wafting into Carson City skies from open permit burning and Tahoe controlled fire

RSVP is host of the 4th of July Celebration and Carnival in Mills Park, now in its 23rd year. Carson City Toyota-Scion has partnered with RSVP and Cumulus Media to provide a live radio remote on Magic 95.5 FM which is live and on-air now, that will lead up to a broadcast of patriotic music and simulcast to the fireworks display at dusk.
Nevada Day Parade through Carson City
Submitted by editor on Sat, 10/30/2010 - 1:41pmThe Nevada Day Parade in downtown Carson City drew tens of thousands to Carson Street today to watch and celebrate the Silver State's statehood.
Parade-goers were treated this morning with an air show above the Carson City skies, including the traditional F18 Hornet fly-over.
Click here for more photos. Festivities continue today with the annual Nevada Day Beard Contest at the Capitol Amphitheater. This begins immediately following the parade.
High winds through Washoe Valley to Carson City may make for difficult commute
