For many months I’ve tolerated mean, thoughtless tirades by a handful of people opposed to positive change in our capital city community. Everyone is entitled to his opinion, however negative and uninformed it might be.

European Roots Reggae artist Martin Zobel and his band Soulrise will perform at Carson City’s Club Envy on Friday September 28th. Born and raised in Germany, Zobel is a popular and integral part of the European Reggae scene. His latest album, Land of the Free, is the result of a month long collaboration with Reggae legend Fully Fullwood. The album went straight to the top of the German Reggae charts. It was just released in the United States and now Zobel and his band Soulrise are embarking on their first US tour.

State Farm is rallying communities nationwide to promote teen driver safety by hosting events such as the one on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Carson City Farmers' Market at 3rd and Curry Street.
The program, co-sponsored by Western Nevada College, runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Events planned for the day will have unique elements and will generate buzz and excitement around teen driver safety.

Gov. Sandoval commends Sage Grouse Committee
Submitted by admin on Thu, 08/02/2012 - 1:20pmCARSON CITY, NV – Governor Brian Sandoval today commended the work of the Nevada Sage-grouse Advisory Committee which issued recommendations yesterday on a course of action that provides conservation measures sufficient to preclude the need to list the Greater Sage-grouse under the Endangered Species Act.
“I thank the Advisory Committee, its Chairman, Bob Crowell and each of the members for their diligent and timely work on this very important issue,” Governor Sandoval said. “Representatives from a cross section of our state collaborated in an effort to conserve the Greater Sage-grouse species while maintaining predictable and multiple uses of private, state and public lands. I look forward to reviewing the Committee’s recommendations.”
