Nevada Gaming Win Rebounds In April Due To Strength In Clark County
Submitted by Nevada News Bureau on Tue, 06/12/2012 - 11:38amCARSON CITY – Nevada’s casinos returned to their winning ways in April, posting a statewide total win of $855.7 million for a 6.2 percent gain over April 2011, the Gaming Control Board reported today.
Clark County overall was up 8.9 percent in April to $743.7 million while the rest of the state did not fare as well. Washoe County was down 15.5 percent, South Lake Tahoe was down 4.4 percent and Elko County was down 2.3 percent.

June 09 is Nevada’s Free Fishing Day for the year 2012.
On that day, you can fish anywhere you want, and not need a Nevada fishing license or a Nevada Trout Stamp or a Nevada Second Rod Stamp.
North Lake Tahoe celebrates holiday weekend with four days of events

Audit Urges State Tax Department To Use Risk Assessment To Pick Businesses For Compliance

The audit of the agency by the state Division of Internal Audits found that it does not follow its risk assessment results when determining which businesses to analyze for potential tax collections.
Carson City Judge Rejects Gaming Tax Petition, Supporters Say They Will File New Version

In rejecting the petition, Judge James Todd Russell said he did not believe he had the authority to rewrite the description himself.
Taxable Sales Post Modest But Broad 4.8 Percent Gain In January
Submitted by Nevada News Bureau on Thu, 03/29/2012 - 4:14pmCARSON CITY – Nevada’s taxable sales climbed 4.8 percent in January to $3.15 billion, with increases in all major consumer categories except construction, the state Department of Taxation reported today.
It was the 19th month of taxable sales increases in Nevada and brought the increase for the fiscal year 2012 to date to 7.2 percent. Taxable sales increased by 6.1 percent in Washoe County and 3.5 percent in Clark County in January.

Nevada Casinos Eke Out Modest Revenue Gain In December, Up 2.8 Percent For All Of 2011

The Las Vegas Strip saw a 3.6 percent gain, bringing in $518.4 million.

Those annual awards are presented to all kinds of people or places or things for what has occurred throughout the year. It’s an interesting way to end the year, so here are my 2011 winners:

Submitted by admin on Tue, 12/06/2011 - 7:05amRumors that the Carson City school calendar and the daily start time for classes are changing is false, according to Superintendent Richard Stokes. While there are studies showing that teens perform better when they don't have to wake up early, Stokes said the district is not ready to change their start times without seeking input from all parties. He also said the school calendar will likely be similar to this year, with classes starting the third week of August.

St. Paul's Lutheran Church will be participating in the Compassionate Friends nationwide candlelight vigil on Sunday honoring children "gone too soon." Participants plan to gather at 6:30 p.m. at the church at the corner of Saliman and Highway 50, with the vigil beginning at 7 p.m.

August Gaming Win Down 6.1 Percent But Not A Big Disappointment, Analyst Says

Nevada’s casinos won $886.9 million in August, nearly $58 million less than the same month last year, said state gaming analyst Michael Lawton.
