Carson City’s rich and intriguing history is explored and theatrically relived in our seasonal Ghost Walking Tours. The Carson City Ghost Walk is a delightfully spooky and enjoyable way to experience Carson City’s Victorian Era and diverse past.

Hear about lingering spirits of the past, haunted and paranormal stories. This is a spirit lead, guided walking tour of the downtown district’s historic homes. This is a 90-minute guided walking tour leaves rain or shine. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the walk begins.

Carson City Music Club presents members in recital at the February meeting.
Music ranging from early classical to Dixieland jazz will be on the program. The program begins at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, February 11 at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall. Public is invited. $10. per person, Children free. Refreshments to follow the performance.

Drumming will never sound the same after hearing Durga's Drum Story, featured at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City Friday and Saturday night.

Featuring Liz Broscoe of South Lake Tahoe, Durga's Drum Story is a unique and acclaimed performance using multi-media to entertain and inspire audiences to learn about the rich and fascinating history of drumming.

At least 350 attended Saturday night's Winter Wine and All That Jazz at the Carson Nugget Ballroom in Carson City. The wine tasting and jazz event was a fundraiser for the Brewery Arts Center. Attendees sipped, sampled and tasted more than 40 wines from around the region, listened to great jazz and even danced into the evening.

The Brewery Arts Center in Carson City will host a free showing of the 2008 movie "Bottle Shock" tonight, Friday, Jan. 11, 6pm in the Performance Hall. Local wine expert, Mike Hautekeet, will open the movie with some informative words about wine.

Pre requisite: Learn to sew (or instructor approval.)

This course will teach you to recognize and overcome the common problems facing everyone starting in photography. You will be entertained by your instructor as he shares over thirty years of adventures and misadventures as an international photo-journalist. Topics covered: The art of seeing, equipment, photographing people (formal & candid), working with children and pets, scenic (seascapes/landscapes), and introduction to Photoshop. Learn to produce professional quality portraits of friends, family, or start your own portrait business. The course covers both formal (studio) and candid (environmental/journalistic) techniques. Learn the tricks-of-the-trade that has allowed your instructor to produce over a hundred magazine covers. Topics covered: equipment, lighting, directing your model, legal issues, working with publishers, keeping it simple and profitable. By the end of the course you will have a sizeable portfolio of quality portraits. A professional studio set-up will be available for your use.

This course will show you how to earn money by having your photos published in magazines, newspapers, calendars, and trade journals. Your photos could even earn you free vacations. You will learn how to produce the sort of material publishers, ad agencies, and tour companies are looking for. Topics covered: Researching your market, building a portfolio, how to submit your ideas/photos, legal issues, organization (images/receipts), keeping it simple and profitable. This course is for experienced photographers wanting to take their work to the next level and make money as they do.

This course covers the same material as the original Adventures in Photography but with greater emphasis on using all that new equipment you got from Santa! This course will teach you to recognize and overcome the common problems facing everyone starting in photography. From a good story you will need to find good locations, good actors and know how to film, light and adjust audio. Each of these elements are covered in this class. From initial planning to completion of a full fledged TV show. You will learn the digital cameras, lighting, audio, directing, and editing. We will use class members as the talent. Get certified to use the studio for public access with this class. Certification means you can make shows for free in the studio as long as it is for public broadcast on ACCtv. Make a website using WordPress for business or personal use. You can tell the world what you think, show things you make or just brag about the Grandkids with words, images and video. Learn how to research and purchase a domain, get it hosted, and put up your own website with WordPress software. You can find a great theme that says you… and customize it with the over 10,000 available plugins and widgets.

Remember when ... There are family stories that get told over and over again. But do you have the details right? Bring out the pictures, the clippings, the souvenirs and tell the story of your family. Have a chat with grandpa (or grandma, or Uncle Joe) in the studio to get the story straight. The final DVD is yours for posterity, a treasure that your grandchildren will cherish. (Additional fee $25 to have the instructor give a final edit to your story.)

Students learn fundamental skills in the various dance styles. An introductory class to ballroom dance designed as a fun introduction to ballroom dance in various styles, including but not limited to, Waltz, Tango, Swing, Foxtrot, Salsa, Cha-Cha and Malaguena. Okay ... you’re addicted right! You need to learn some more tangles! And, take your Zentangles in another direction! In this workshop we will do both!! We will now incorporate traditional tangles with the elements of design and color and create a fabulous greeting card! Not only will you have an opportunity to add some color to your tangles, but you will go home with a template for making a card that frames your Zentangle tiles in a very fun and attractive way! AND, we will learn 5 new tangles! Bring your mini Zentangle mini kit and any coloring materials you may have, i.e.

Expanding on the basic concepts learned in the “Zentangle 101 class, you will learn7 more patterns. In addition, specific techniques for embellishing you tangles and taking them to the next level. Prerequisite: Zentangle 101. Materials: Bring your mini kit from “Zentangle 101.” Supplies will be available for purchase if you need them (tiles, micron pens, etc.)

Zentangle 101:

This is a favorite beginner/intermediate class. In just two hours, you will make TWO fabulous rings using wire and beads! These rings are simple and surprisingly durable. This is another great class for beginner and intermediate aspiring jewelry “artists!” In this two-hour class, we will be creating a personal totem that can be worn as jewelry art or hung from a window or mirror. A totem is an object that signifies the qualities of it owner, making a statement through color, shape and feeling. This is a great class for beginner and intermediate aspiring jewelry “artists”! In this two part class, we will be learning the simple loop, the wrapped loop and wrapped loop clasps.
