He is a senior at Carson High School, and his last year is, to say the least, unconventional. Adults have had their say, so how about a chat with this popular young man as he sports a 1980s hairstyle called a mullet in which the hair is short on the sides and long at the front and back.

Big Changes coming to A to Zen, Carson City's Popular Gifts and Thrift Store

A to Zen has been a Carson City staple for the past decade. While they’re mostly known for their assortment of vintage finds, their large record and book collection, handmade gifts, costumes, and what may be the largest collection of knick-knacks in Carson City, they’ve also been engaging in community activities for years.

Holy moly, it’s going to be a busy weekend: busy and gorgeous out. A bowling tournament and the Comstock Shootout Soccer tournament have the hotels and motels busting at the seams. Celebrate Earth Day with Muscle Powered by making a small piece of Carson City that much cleaner; the trash meets at 8 a.m. and leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the day. Rummage and book sales, live music, a fun run and a half-marathon, comedy and so much more await you. Check out the list for all the ways to embrace the sunshine.

Book Sales at the Browsers Corner begin Saturday

BIG book sales ahead at the Browsers Corner book Store. The first one is Saturday, June 13. It is a parking lot sale, and runs from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. Lowest prices of the year:
— Hardcover - 50 cents
— Paperbacks - 25 cents
— Children’s books - 10 cents

There will also be sales on Monday, June 15 and again on Saturday, June 20. Everything in the book store will be half off! An additional 10 percent discount for members of the Friends of the Library on Monday, June 15.

The bookstore is across the street from the Carson City Library at 711 East Washington Street.

The Friends of the Dayton Valley Library held the first August Authors Event on Saturday, August 16 at the Dayton Valley Branch Library. There were approximately 50 attendees and the library parking lot was full. Residents of Dayton were invited to interact with five local Nevada writers, discuss their writing, purchase books and have them signed by the authors.

Carson City Friends of Library kicks off new location, weekend sale with ribbon cutting

Friends of the Library book lovers will now have a larger place to buy books and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce plans to launch the opening with a ribbon cutting.

New Book Sale Location for Carson City Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Carson City Library has a new location for book sales. It is at 2311 North Carson Street, just behind Denny's Restaurant. There is lots of parking off of Hot Springs both in front of the building and behind it. Having a "permanent" space for our sales means that we will be having a sale very month.
The hours for our first sale in February are:

— Thursday, Feb. 14th - 3 pm to 6 pm - preview for members only
— Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15 & 16 - 10 am to 4 pm for everybody
