Prescription drug prices the topic at Democratic luncheon

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Christina Lopez, who will be pinch hitting for Kate Marshall, Nevada's 35th lieutenant governor. Marshall, previously announced as the speaker, found herself unable to attend due to a last minute schedule change, so Ms. Lopez, a close associate and former staffer, was asked speak on her behalf.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Annette Magnus, outgoing Executive Director of Battle Born Progress and the Institute for a Progressive Nevada. For many years she has been as familiar a face around the halls of the legislature and as she has been on TV panel shows hosted by the likes of Sam Shad and Jon Ralston. At the luncheon she will provide an update on the status of bills being promoted or opposed by BBP during the 82nd legislative session.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Amber Falgout, Northern Nevada Manager of Battle Born Progress. Her presentation will provide an assessment of bills before the 82nd session that deserve progressive support and others that might be inconsistent with progressive values.

On the Battle Born Progress website, the headline is "We Fight the Right in Nevada." Its mission statement says that it "uses strategic communication efforts to empower, engage and mobilize Nevada voters to build a state where everyone has a fair opportunity to succeed."

Her presentation will address the opportunities being realized by receipt of $2.7 billion in pandemic relief funds, as well as programs put at risk by the court-ordered rebate of $105 million in taxes levied over the 2019-2021 biennium.
