Happy Thursday, Carson City. You won't want to miss out on Cedrick Williams' last performance of the summer at Living the Good Life. Enjoy an outdoor concert with the Sagebrush Rebels at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park. You’ll find it located on Highway 88, just past the swimming pool in Minden, and remember to bring a chair. The Trippin King Snakes make their monthly appearance at the Carson Cigar Company for June’s Birthday Thursday. If you didn’t get your hot rod fix at the Rockabilly Riot, head to the Max Casino for Silver Dollar Cruise Night.

The Rockabilly Riot roars into town today and it’s bring cool cars, a tattoo expo, music, contests, pin-up girls, and so much more. Check it out at Mills Park and make sure to catch the talented officers competing in this year’s Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge while you’re there. The kids in town are getting a new Teen Center at the Boys and Girls Club: the ribbon cutting is at 10 a.m. You’ll find author Mike White at the Nevada State Museum this evening. His presentation on the best backpacking trips in Nevada and California is part of the Francis Humphrey Lecture Series.

British soccer camp coming to Carson City

The opportunity for parents to sign up their children ages 4 to 8 is drawing to a close. There are three dates left to sign up in person at 1440 Fitness, located at 3456 North Carson Street in Carson City.

Walk in registration will be open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, and Tuesday, Feb. 16. The last day to sign up is Saturday, Feb. 20th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Justin Townsend Named Regional Commissioner of AYSO Soccer

Justin Townsend, associate at Allison MacKenzie Law Firm in Carson City, Nevada, has been named Regional Commissioner of Carson Valley American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO).

Carson Valley AYSO serves youth in Region 318, comprised of Minden, Gardnerville, Genoa, Smith Valley, Topaz, and Wellington, NV and Coleville, Woodfords and Markleeville, CA.

AYSO kicks off 2015 season with fall opening ceremonies

Hundreds of players, coaches and officials participate in the AYSO Fall 2015 Opening Ceremonies at Edmonds Sports Complex in Carson City, Nev., on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2015. Regional Commissioner Molly Walt says participation in the league is up 18 percent from last year with more than 700 players between the ages of 4-18.

Tuesdays are an excellent day for a stroll. Carson City Parks and Recreation and Muscle Powered both offer a guided walk/hike along one of our valley’s many trails. This morning enjoy beautiful views from the Virginia and Truckee Trail on the west side of Carson; it is also an excellent trail for biking. Later today, tag along with Muscle Powered for something more challenging. They will be exploring around Centennial Park on the far northeast side of Carson City. Registration fee lowered for Carson City AYSO soccer

Children interested in playing AYSO soccer in Carson City will be able to do so this year at the lowest ever registration cost. Participants this year will pay $25 compared to the $75 registration fee last year, said Molly Walt, regional commissioner for the American Youth Soccer Organization, Region No. 140.

“AYSO is a quality recreational soccer program,” Walt said. “We want to continue to make it affordable.”
The discount was made possible, she said, through the program’s annual fundraiser tournament, the Comstock Shootout.

It’s a Jazz Extravaganza tonight as the Mile High Jazz Band teams up with Carson High School’s Jazz Band at the Community Center.

AYSO Carson City kicks off season with opening ceremonies

Douglas hosts AYSO 'SoccerFest 14' pick-up game Saturday at Lampe Park

SoccerFest 14, billed as the biggest pick-up game on Earth, will be held Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lampe Park in Gardnerville.

Local players from Carson City, Douglas and Lyon counties will join fellow AYSO players from throughout the region as part of a nationwide event that will take place in hundreds of communities. This year's SoccerFest is part of AYSO's 50th anniversary celebration.

Dozens of teams, hundreds of players in Carson City for AYSO boys soccer tourney

Dozens of boys soccer teams from Nevada, California and Idaho are in Carson City this weekend for the second round of the 21st annual AYSO Comstock Shootout Soccer Tournament.

Hosted by the Carson City American Youth Soccer Organization Region #140 and Carson Futbol Club, the weekend tournament at Edmonds Sports Complex brings hundreds of players from three states to compete in a series of shootout competitions. It is recognized as one of the largest competitions of its kind in region, said tournament director Molly Walt.

Comstock Shootout soccer tournament kickoff weekend in Carson City underway

Dozens of teams, hundreds of players and car loads of parents arrived in Carson City this weekend for the 21st annual Comstock Shootout Soccer Tournament.

Hosted by the Carson City American Youth Soccer Organization Region #140 and Carson Futbol Club, around 80 soccer teams are playing in the girl’s tournament this weekend with 68 boys teams set to play April 25-26. The tournament is an open tournament sanctioned by AYSO and US Club Soccer.

Undefeated U10 boys "Blue Vipers" Heading to Cookies Best Tournament

We would like to recognize our U10 boys soccer team "Blue Vipers" who went undefeated during regular fall season & play off tournament giving other teams a chance to win entry into this weekends "Cookies Best" soccer tournament. Michael Rohr & Josh Hall dedicated their time to coach these boys, and thru this dedication led them to this weekends tournament to face other regions for a spot in the Section 2 Tournament.
