Late Carson City artist honored with featured exhibit in October

Once Tyzbir started, in fact, he never stopped. The 52 year-old Carson City artist drew exclusively with pencil clear up until his death on Aug. 30 of this year.

Hosted in partnership with the Nevada Indian Commission and the Stewart Indian School Alumni, the annual powwow includes quality Native American fun and is also a time for alumni, former employees, families and friends to gather at the former campus.

The Stewart Indian School was the only off-reservation boarding school in Nevada for American Indian students over a 90-year span.
Family Fun Saturday: Beastly Encounters and Coyote Stories

Rock art and coyote stories featured Saturday in kids program at Nevada State Museum

Guests will be challenged to look at images of Nevada rock art and ask how it fits into understanding American Indian culture and archaeology, what it is, where it came from and how it can be protected.

Nevada State Museum in Carson City hosts Powwow traditions exhibit

This colorful exhibit, featured now through Aug. 7, was developed by the Folklife Program of the Nevada Arts Council and presents art and crafts that capture the vibrant spirit of the contemporary powwow, Nevada-style.
